For "Terrible, rude service, passable food" contributer. If i remember correctly, my girlfriend and i were seated at the bar, and we remember your party coming in. First and foremost, i think that you should probably tell everyone on here that you were on a pub crawl. And also, the Globe was the 5th place you had been throughout your bar hopping because someone had said they saw you at Whiskeys beforehand. Your party was loud and obnoxious, i recall because i asked the waitress who you guys were, you were all dressed up as characters from Caddy Shack. What i can also remember - is the Rodney Dangerfield guy yelling very loudly for the waitress to "go f%$k herself" and refusing to pay the bill. You guys were already belligerantly drunk and out of line. If i was the manager, i would have called the police on your party, you're probably lucky she didn't. I live in the back bay and have been going to globe since it was Backbay bistro, and personally, its not the place for drunk, loud and obnoxious people. Next time, have more class by having respect for the other diners, and second - have respect for yourself when the bill arrives. Try not to be too drunk next time to remember how many drinks you drank.

I loved this place but reading the most recent review it has. I used to work right next to the globe and my cousin and I were in there a lot. Sometimes there would be more, but everytime we were in there it was great service and food! I'm thinking maybe they have hired the wrong people because it was a great place and now I might not go anymore because of that review..I feel horible for that party to be treated like that! That is outragious!! I would have not even paid the bill!!

Terrible, rude service, passable food. As a long time customer, it saddens me to write such a negative review (rant), but after the rude treatment our party received by both the wait staff and a person claiming to be the general manager, I feel obligated.

I live in the neighborhood, and frequently stopped in for a sandwich or a quick drink. The food and service were always both decent, and I'd have given it three stars ? nothing special, but a nice place to have nearby.

However, I was there this past Saturday with a large party, and received some of the worst and rudest service I have ever had. In short, there appeared to be a mix up on the number of drinks the waitress had delivered, as three people never got their orders. We asked the waitress who immediately became defensive and accusatory, and returned with the bill as "proof" that she had brought us the drinks, despite it only being proof that she had rung them in, not that she'd delivered them.

A member of our party commented "that's fine, we'll just take it out of your tip" to which the waitress responded by swearing repeatedly at our party and storming off. She returned with someone who said they were the general manager, and rather than trying to settle the disagreement, she berated our party further and threatened to call the police! We encouraged her to call, but she backed down.

In the end, we paid our bill in full (without a tip and to the penny) and in place of our drinks received verbal abuse from both the waitress and the manager. Neither myself, nor any of the rest of our ~15 person party is likely ever to return to Globe, and will be sure to share our story with anyone who asks.

incompetant waitresses. If you want a gin and tonic go somewhere else. My waitress insisted that "soda is sweeter than tonic" even after I sent back two gin and sodas. She clearly had no idea what either mixer tasted like. When I was still charged for the drink the waitress then said to just "pay me less." My advice is to go to Parish Cafe, two blocks down on Boylston.

Economical but not customer oriented.. Good place to get drinks. Food always comes out quickly and is always hot and delicious. Kudos to the cooks... Don't bother going on Sunday past 8. They usually close the kitchen at 9 and call last call shortly; while making known that you aren't welcomed after 10pm.

While the bartenders and waitstaff aren't that friendly it is a good place to get cheap food and decently priced drinks. If you are looking for a place to hang out after work eat for lunch it isn't that bad. You get what you pay for.

Great cumstomer service, lovely food, good location. Absolutely a must. Cozy and inviting atmosphere sets a great mood for a relaxing lunch or dinner for the perfect break from the workplace. It's at a great location, right in the middle of dowtown boston and prudential center mall. Globe is smak dab in the middle of the hustle and bustle of boston, located directly across the street from the John Hancock building (one of the tallest modern buildings in Boston), which is most attractive for foreigners trying to get a glipse of the everyday bostonian's life. And the Copley T stop is right on the corner! The service is amazing. There are so many different selections of food to choose from on the menu including their different daily specials on soups. I recommend the Chicken Carbonara dinner and the Turtle cheesecake dessert. All of the wait staff is very friendly and willing to help you find your way to other boston destinations. Every visit has been absolutely pleasurable and I can only wait to return again.

better than cheers. Go in a couple of times and you can see this is truly a local bar with a great mix of people. I have never seen a hostile crowd or bad attitudes. Strong drinks and beautiful staff always helps.

Inviting atmosphere, daily food specials and affordable drinks combine to produce one of the Back Bay's top after-work meeting spots.. The Scene
A crowd of mostly 20-somethings fills the rows of booths and tables lining the walls of the restaurant (the bar is in the back). Dim, low-hanging lights, wood paneling and dark high-backed booths add to the coziness. A diverse drink menu includes frozen drinks, martinis, 20 different wines and eight beers on tap. During the warmer months, more than a dozen tables out front offer great views of Boylston Street.

The Draw
Three well-placed TVs near the bar--including two large flat screens--provide great viewing of all the local sports teams. Considering the neighborhood, the drink list is relatively affordable--10 martinis and 10 frozen concoctions all less than $7. Upscale bar food includes soups, salads, appetizers and entrees ranging from Californian shrimp salad to fish and chips.
