The Scene
By offering the same kids' menu and early-bird specials available in its suburban sister locations, the Back Bay Skipjack's maintains a welcoming, family-friendly vibe. However, that doesn't stop suited businessmen and foreign tourists from stopping in for expensive bottles of wine and selections from the well-stocked raw and sushi bars. Warm wooden features and neon-blue lighting fixtures ensure a nautical feel to the dining areas. Servers patiently explain the differences between Pemaquids and Wellfleets.

The Food
After studying the playful sushi menu (Cape Cod maki features fresh lobster salad with lettuce and cucumber), diners must contend with the lengthy list of fresh fish. Local (Boston scrod) and not-so-local (Floridian mahi) varieties can be broiled, grilled or prepared with a savory house rub. The seafood-adverse experience no shame when ordering prime steaks or chicken parmigiana. Among the classic desserts available, suitably tart Key lime pie makes for a wise selection.

I've been to 2 other Skipjacks restaurants and was very surprised by this one. The food was amazing! The location in the middle of Boston, the quality of the food,a nd the overall atmosphere were all a very good combination.

Fresh Seafood, but I am sure it is fresh most places in Boston. Our waiter wasnt very helpful. Our party of six ordered six orders of sushi thinking their were three pieces per order and he didn't give us any helpful hints or advice, so we ended up with 36 pieces of sushi. I was disappointed with the baked lobster, wish I would have just ordered the steamed.

Ordered take out from Skipjack. The food was simply awful. I had the lobster and shrimp fra diavolo and my girlfriend ordered the shrimp scampi. The shrimp had little flavor, and was overcooked. The pasta was overcooked as well, and the sauce was soupy and bland. The only redeeming thing about the meal was the clam chowder. Perhaps I made a mistake by ordering takeout, but there is no excuse for the quality of food I was served. Skipjack is certainly not worth the price. If you want better go down the street to Atlantic Seafood.
