Great Experience. This is a fun place to go. You sit on tiny stools with a small, low lying table (made like a woven basket) to share for eating. You eat with your hands, as is Ethiopian custom, using a a spongy, pancake-like flatbread. You take a small piece of the bread and scoop up one of the many stews or fried meat for eating. They serve various varieties of delicious and tender stews as well as meat based servings. Im not always sure what type of meat, whether it be lamb or beef, but it is always amazing. Ethiopian food is seasoned generously but not too spicy, just full of flavor. The environment is casual and fun and the wait staff are genuinely Ethiopian and very polite, helpful with suggestions and attentive. I always feel as though I am a special guest in their home; very welcomed. The Addis Red Sea is located in a very cool area of the South End. They have a honey wine which is authentic and delicious, which I love. The prices are very cheap especially considering the location. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
Highly recommend. My girl friend and I visited this restaurant because we love ethnic food and the review was so great. We were not disappointed! The atmosphere was really nice, and we enjoyed our time. I believe Addis Red Sea is not only the great restaurant for date, but also the best spot to hang out with friends. This was our first experience with Ethiopian food and it will not be our last!
Love It. The resturant is almost a little hard to find because of its location but its definitely worth the search! I ordered the wrong dish by accident and without hesitation they took it back and brought me what i wanted. It is exquisite Ethiopian food that I can rarely find.
Best of the Best. I am always a huge fan for ethnic food, and it is my first time to try Ethiopian food in Addis Red Sea. Well the food in Addis Red Sea is really great and I really love their Goden Tibs. Just like others comment the services are somehow slow, but the place is beautiful, and if you are looking for unique dining experience, Addis Red Sea is definitely your best choice
Perfect date. If you're looking for a great place to eat without breaking the bank, this the place to do. I would anyone who goes there to try the Lega Tibs. It's a traditional African dish made with sauteed chunks of lamb.
traditional cuisine. if you are looking for very authentic traditional Ethiopian food then this restaurant fits the description. i have never had better Ethiopian food in boston or in nyc. definitely worth the excursion if you've never tried it before.
great for dinner parties. my sister had her engagement party here and it was so great! the service was amazing and the food was delicious. i really love this place and having a dinner party was really fun!
The Best. Addis Red Sea is really fine quality food with good service. I have always had great experiences at this restaurant and never a problem. I've been going for years!
Great Ethiopian!. I usually don’t experiment. I stick with Italian or Chinese usually. I was in Boston for a weekend and my wife convinced me to try to branch out, so we tried Addis red Sea because we heard it was good. I let my wife order because I know nothing about Ethiopian food and it was out of this world! The food was absolutely wonderful. I had no idea what exactly I was eating but it was so great! The steak tartar, Kitfo was amazing. All their food is very diverse and if you're thinking about trying Ethiopian, try Addis Red Sea! I really fell in love!
I can't stay away. Huge Addis fan here. I have only been to 3 different Ethiopian restaurants, but this is my favorite so far, and I prefer it to most other local restaurants. The food is great, there are plenty of options for both meat-eaters and vegetarians, the staff are very friendly, and the atmosphere is very inviting. I would highly recommend ordering a combo, and while I'm partial to the asa wat (fish) or doro wat (chicken) as the entree part of my combo, I usually randomly select the vegetarian sides to round out the combo--most of them are great! The spicy food is in fact spicy, so if you choose any of those options, make sure to get one or two blander sides as well. I always have some mango juice and save some for the end to help put out the fire. Again, by me, the restaurant is highly recommended.
