“drink prices are reasonable.”
Door Guys Act Like They Are Working A Hollywood Party. I will admit right off the bat that I have never eaten here but I have been for drinks twice, BAD experience both times. I am used to crowded bars, I understand long waits for drinks, bathrooms, and everything else. I do not however, believe that door men have a right to be rude. Both times they have been snappy and acted like they were doing me a favor for letting me in. The second time the guy asked me for a back-up immediately after I handed him my ID... he hadn't even looked at it. I may be 21, but I do not look young and I never get questioned at any bar in this city besides Whiskey's and its neighbor The Pour House. When I gave him my credit card he scrutinized both and actually told me to get out of the way while he looked at it so other people could come in. Then made some under-the-breath and just gave it back to me. Whatever, there are much nicer places to go in this city, even on Bolyston St. Also they will not let you sit in the booths or tables if you are not eating. I would understand this except when it is 9:30 pm and 3/4 of them are completely empty, please don't force me to stand around your nasty bar with 40 year old men. This place is trashy, don't bother.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. This bar is awful...The manager Jeremy S. is a dink. I went to the bar on a Sat. night with two friends we had all been out having fun a Lir (right down the street and much more fun) and wanted to go to another place. We get in line and then my two friends go in I was looking for my ID which I had in my bag but it took me a few minutes to find and the Bouncer said he wouldn't let me in! He said my eyes were red and that I was drunk and it was taking too long for me to find my ID. I snuck into the bar and proceeded to get a drink at the bar (I guess the bartender didn't think I was too drunk) then I went out to have a smoke and they wouldn't let me back in...not even to tell my friends I was being kicked out for no reason except because the bouncers and manager practice invidious discrimination. The three bouncer then ganged up on me and got the manager too. DON"T EVER GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!!!
Disappointing experience. It was a hot nite and I have to say that the AC was not working well or maybe it was off. The door staff needs to learn some manners about gawking. I didn't expect that from a restaurant on Boyleston Street. The drinks were fair, food was prepared poorly and was late coming out. It wasn't that busy either so why did it take so looong? The fries were over done and the oil didn't appear to have been changed in awhile. The ladys room was on the dirty side, and no toilet paper!!! Whats up with that???
A solid experience. I went to Whiskey's last Saturday with a few college buddies from out of town. It's a dive bar but there are cocktail waitresses who seem to keep everyone well lubricated. The girls are all plastic and the men are a bunch of meatheads. We found some ladies and a cozy place to sit when we couldn't stand and then they sent a waitress over to keep bringing us booze. Our waitress was exceptional, very friendly and attentive, and after a few rounds she knew to just keep 'em coming. What more could you want?
Pretty Good. I was there last weekend and it's just like every other bar in Boston. Most of the staff was real nice, the girls are good looking, the bartenders are quick, but the doorguys are ok. The guy with the lip piercing is a total loser, acting like he owned the place. Someone should tell him that his minimum wage isn't going to get him very far. Otherwise it's a good time, good music, and a good environment.
Idiot!. How does citysearch even allow retarded reviews like the previous one to see the light of day. Just a disgruntled ex-employee, who after all of that ranks Whiskey's as average!
gross.
whiskeys is terrible
i used to work there
i could tell you all of the disguesting sketchy stuff that goes on there but ill save you youre appetite and just tell you to never go there
ew.
Will never go back. I have never been treated with more disrespect in my life...every employee in this place is rude and has no idea what customer service is. It starts at the door with the bouncers and goes all the way to the managers and the owners. I will never go back there and I wouldnt recommed this bar to my worst ememy!!
Over -rated, over - priced, and a good reason to go to New York and be treated right !!!.
Obviously, Jeve's attempt to be unbiased and fair is transparent. Anyone with have a brain can surmise from his writing that he either works at Whiskeys or a friend told him what to write. In general, people don't care about the food service industry's problems. Jeve, if you don't like what your making at Whiskeys go back to school and get a REAL JOB.
The bottom line is that the majority of comments about this bar are negative. Whether they are from New York or L.A. is not important. Its their comments about what type of bar you work for! Bottom line is there are better bars in Boston and I would only go back to Whiskeys if they fumigated the place.
If you want to be treated with respect, go to any other place in the USA other than Massachusetts. People in general in Mass are arrogant........
I LOVE New York ! Long live the Yankees..........Keep on spending money Theo !
never. never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never go..
