Japanese-Korean restaurant provides the Back Bay with a calming dining destination.. In Short
With a dark wooden sushi bar and plenty of Asian touches, Kaya maintains a welcoming atmosphere. The menu ranges from lightly fried tempura to an extensive selection of fresh sushi. Fans of Korean fare dine on versions of bulgogi and bibimbap, while those looking for a kick devour plates of piquant stir-fried squid in red-pepper sauce. Cooling desserts like green-tea ice cream are available as well.

Worst Dinner In My Life. Food - sushi was not fresh, babimbap was barely edible. soup was ok.

Ambience - the restaurant looked nice but smelled like foot odor.

Service - glum looking waitstaff w/ unfriendly attitude.

Value - i wouldn't eat here for free. without a doubt, this is the worst food i've had in years.

Overall - recommend this restaurant to people that you hate. very disappointing experience. simply put, this restaurant is horrible.

We need a better alternative. Kaya was the only Korean restaurant in Boston for a while. And bc of the lack of competition, it's standards have really gone down. For instance, the naengmyon broth is made with anchovy powder, and not beef broth, which is a sacrilege. The service is generally poor, and they need to improve their side dishes.

I thought it was pretty good. Ate here about a year ago and thought the food & service were pretty good. Don't remember if the price was so stiff; tend to recall it was about average compared to the area's other Korean restaurants. Wonder why some people had such bad experience..

User review by browniesprinkles. This place didn't have good korean food at all and for its price it was kind of ridiculous. The Sushi didn't look fresh but my friend said it tasted okay. Most of us didn't even finish our foods. The waitress however was nice and the atmosphere was alright. Don't think i'll ever come back here again

Average. Food here is only so-so. But for the price, it's bad. It's expensive and I would expect better food. The kalbi is not that flavorful. Never had the sushi though but I've seen other people order it and it's not that fresh. The pork bulgolgi was alright, the spiciness covers any other flavors so it doesn't matter.

Terrible. I do not know how this restaurant got this kind of rating. Korean food here is horrible and expensive. To take a person who is not familiar with Korean food here is the fastest way to turn those unfamiliar away from Korean food. Japanese food here is at best BAD. Why go here if you can go to O'Sushi over at Westin?? Do NOT GO HERE!

Nice n' Spicy. Everything said about it in the editorial review is true. The only thing I would add is that you have to try the soups there, especially the spicy one with shrimp. Great place
