Shop around first

Workmanship was good but could be better priced. Mine was a complicated Vera Wang for David's bridal dress. Alteration and bustle cost $650. I would DEFINITELY shop around given more time.

Great Tailors!

by ReviewForYou at Citysearch

I went to Best Fit to get a very delicate chiffon dress altered. It is for my destination wedding so I was really worried that it would get ruined. It came out perfect!

Here are the details -

I went to Best Fit on a Saturday shortly after they opened (without an appointment). They let me in and had me change into my dress. The seamstress pinned me and had me look at myself in the mirror for approval. Once everything was pinned in all the right places, I changed, paid and left. I have to admit, I was a little scared that the entire process took about 10 minutes.

I picked up my dress a week later and it's PERFECT. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! The material is an extremely delicate crinkle chiffon and the back straps are very complicated (criss-cross sort of pattern). Best Fit altered the straps perfectly. When I first looked at the dress after alterations, I thought they had not done anything to it because it looked like it was in it's original condition.

So in sum - Best Fit does a great job, and can handle even the most delicate, complicated alterations. They aren't super friendly and won't give you a ton of personal attention. But if you need something done quickly and with impeccable craftmanship, I can 100% recommend Best Fit.

  • Pros: Impeccable work; decent prices; quick
  • Cons: Not too friendly

miracle workers!

I had a very delicate dress that was far too long for me. But it had an elastic rouching around my legs. I took it to another tailor who told me there was nothing they could do. Best Fit took on this task and now the dress looks fabulous on me. I am completely satisfied with their work and will most definitely go back to them with all my tailoring needs.

  • Pros: took on a challenging job and did an incredible job
  • Cons: expensive

would not recommend to anyone

I had a terrible experience with Best Fit Tailors. I went there a year ago to have them shorten a bridesmaid dress from floor length to knee length. The work was completed in 2 weeks and was acceptable, so I recently went back to Best Fit to have another bridesmaid dress hemmed despite remembering the service left something to be desired. I did not feel like looking for another tailor on fairly short notice and it seemed like the easiest option.

My visit was terrible from the start. I made an appointment several days in advance and arrived on time but there was an issue with the door buzzer when they attempted to let me in. After a couple tries, an employee came down and brazenly informed me that she was "going to show me how it works so I won't mess up again." Apparently they do not use doorknobs at Best Fit. Next, one of the tailors came out and looked to attend to another customer before me despite the fact that she was a walk-in and I had an appointment. Thankfully the other customer pointed that out and suggested I go first.

Once I changed into my dress, the first thing the tailor said (in front of another customer as well as another employee) was that my dress was too snug around the hips and there was nothing she could do to fix that. I told her that I was only there to have it hemmed and she kept reiterating that "if I lost weight" and the dress was therefore not the right length, that would "not be her fault" and I would need to pay again to have it fixed. She then told me that despite quoting me a pick up date two weeks in the future, she would not actually start working on the dress until about two days before my pickup date, so I should "go home, monitor my weight" so I could let her know before then if I thought the dress would fit differently. She reiterated several times in a rude and condescending tone that if it came out wrong, it would be my fault and not hers. Her constant implications that I was too fat for the dress had me with tears in my eyes and humiliated in front of other customers (I am a size 2 btw, after after eating more carefully for just one week, the dress fits perfectly again).

I decided under no circumstances did I want to give Best Fit my business. I took recommendations and selected another tailor. I called Best Fit and told them that I no longer needed the dress hemmed and could they please remove all the pins that they had put in it so that it could be ready for pickup the next day. The woman on the phone gave me difficulty troughout the entire call and when I went in the next day to pick up my dress and bring it to another tailor, it was still full of pins they had not bothered to remove. All around rude and at moment downright mean and abrasive service. ..I would not recommend Best Fit to anyone.

  • Pros: average work for price
  • Cons: downright rude and abrasive service

wonderful, wonderful, wonderful

I took my wedding dress to them two days - yep, two days - before my wedding. In 24 hours they took in four inches throughout the back and all the way down to the bottom, ironed it, and had it ready to go. they even gave me options about how they could take it in in multiple ways with multiple price options. three women worked with me when i went in with my friend, and the same three looked at it with me when i went in the next day to try it on and bring it home. i'm not sure what i would have done without them; they saved the day - i highly recommend them to everyone.

  • Pros: friendly, quick, quick, quick
  • Cons: What are the drawbacks?
