Dad says BAD for Priscilla of Boston. I haven't seen too many fathers posting, but let me take a shot. I was there for the purchase - beautiful dress and decent service, BUT IT WENT DOWN HILL FROM THERE. The manager browbeat us into ordering the dress too large and assured us that it was safer that way and it would be no problem to alter it. Well six sizes later (what bride picks up weight before her wedding!?)and terrible alterations and the dress still wasn't right. We had to get another seamstress to save the day.

The dress had fabric buttons all the way down the back, that were poorly sewn on. The day of the wedding my daughter lost several buttons in the limo on the way to the church.

I would not recommend Priscilla of Bioston.

HORRIBLE.. I already paid for my bridesmaid dress in full in mid February & when I did pay there was no mention of signing a contract. 3 weeks later, I find out that even though the dress is completely paid for, they refuse to order it until I mail/fax a signed contract. They are super unfriendly & disorganized to paying customers. When I get married – I’m NEVER going there.

Alterations are a total scam. When they ordered my dress "cut-to-measure" a few months ago, I assumed that the dress would come back and only a few minor alterations would be needed. Instead, I tried it on at my first fitting and it was even bigger than the sample had been! They had to clamp it again and I haven't lost any weight. All my measurements were exactly the same as the ones they took months ago. So I got charged an additional $500 for alterations. The whole thing felt like a scam. Why didn't they actually make my dress to my measurements?

That being said, I am totally in love with my dress...

Beautiful dresses, terrible customer service.. We had a horrible customer service experience at the flagship Priscilla store in Boston. I ordered five bridesmaid dresses in September. One bridesmaid placed her order the next day, and then I got a call that afternoon from a salesperson saying that she was worried that they'd heard from one girl and not from the others. Keep in mind this was less than 24 hours after I placed the order. All of the other girls then got their orders in. One took a few weeks too long, but at that point no one called me to check in. Two of my bridesmaids were given forms with the wrong names and sizes on them. One had to have hers faxed to her in Minnesota and it was screwed up three times; another was in New Haven and hers was also screwed up the first time. Once the order was finally placed, I never heard from them again. After five months, my maid of honor called to check in on the dresses, and they said "oh, they've been here for weeks, we tried calling but the number the bride gave us was wrong." Which is a) incorrect, because they called me in September, b) they had my email address, and c) they had all of the bridesmaids phone numbers as well. When I called to talk to them, they got very defensive and claimed it was my fault that I didn't know the dresses were there. Several of my bridesmaids then had to rush to get them in time for them to be altered, and the people at the store continued to be unhelpful throughout the rest of the process. The dresses were beautiful, and a good value for the money, but I would NEVER tell someone to buy them from this particular store.

Best experience in Greater Boston!!. After reading these reviews I hesitated to make an appointment at Priscilla, but I am SO GLAD that I did. My consultant, Michelle, was very friendly and took the time to sit with me and mom and find out about my personal style and budget before bringing in the gowns. She also explained that she would not bring in dresses outside of my budget without giving me a heads-up so that I would have a chance to say 'no, let's not even try it on.' (And she kept her word on that!!)

With every dress I tried on, Michelle encouraged me to talk about what I liked/didn't like and - when I asked for it - she gave me honest and very helpful comments. She picked up on things like my expression and mood when I had each gown on which, I think, demonstrates how focused she was on finding the right gown for me. When I had a question about changing something on a dress, she asked a manager - who was also extremely helpful and friendly - right away. My appointment lasted nearly 3 HOURS, and everyone remained helpful and patient the ENTIRE time. Now that's stamina!!

In regard to some of the other reviews, I can understand the desire to "go through the racks" yourself and, yes, it is true that this particular salon does not allow much of that. But frankly, if you expect to walk in there with no appointment and just grab anything you like it is your expectation, not the salon's behavior, that is out of line. And in regard to pricing - it's all relative. Priscilla is not the place to find a "steal." Their prices range from about $1,500 to down payment on a house. If their prices don't jive with your budget, that's fine. Realistically, we all have our limits. But think twice before you waltz in there just to play dress up. I can see how they wouldn't appreciate that. No one likes to have their time wasted.

One more thing....the level of customer service IS NOT related to your budget. Mine was modest and they were not at all turned off by that.
