Editorial Review for Champions Sports Bar – by Citysearch Staff
In Short
Champions displays plenty of Boston memorabilia, giving a somewhat local feel to the lone outpost of a national sports bar chain. Friendly bartenders and servers are careful not to interfere with anyone's view of the dozens of TV screens (several booths contain small screens, enabling patrons to choose what game to watch). The well-stocked bar includes plenty of beer options, and the food menu consists mostly of traditional bar fare, with lots of shareable appetizers like nachos and wings.

i usually dont write reviews like this, but felt I had to. I have been to champions many times before because I work in the area, most of the time I sat at a table with friends and had a nice meal and great service. I went last Friday night, MAY 23rd and sat at the bar. The bartender seemed very unfriendly and almost annoyed when I ordered a drink. I got the feeling that she knew a lot of people at the bar because she was deep in conversation with them and joking about how easy her job was and how all her friends come in for free drinks all the time etc. As a paying customer, I just felt like her friends at the bar were more important than actual customers. I'm not the type to yell "hey!" when I need another drink but after waiting almost 15 minutes for her to even glance down at me and my empty glass, I was tempted to. The vibe at the bar was just not how I want to feel when I go out, so I doubt I'll be back.
Pros: tvs, drinks, mature crowd
Cons: ignored at the bar

I usually don't write review to anywhere, but I felt I must for this place. I been here before with groups of different ethnic backgroung and service was decent. Today, April 4, 2008, I was looking for Champions menu online to send to a friend who I invited to go to lunch with us. I came across a review on this page calling Champions a ra*ist place. I read all 13 reviews and only one was a bad review. However after going on for lunch, me and three of my friends waited and hour for our orders. Alot of the people that were there had already received their orders and had left and we still didn't get our simple order of steak tips and fries. The whole time no one came to our table to say your order will be out soon, or we just waiting on this one thing. We were just left there to wonder what happen to our order and why we were not being served as everyone else was. I don't know if i would go as far as call this place ra*ist, but the only difference between this time i went to go eat there and last time was this time we were all black guys, last time, the group was majority white. Even the order was the same as last time. Definately not a place I am going to spend my hard earned money again.
