Somewhere in the middle. I must say that the reviews of this place were apparently written by the owner, and the owner's ex-wife alternatively. The reality is somewhere in the middle. First, the beers are big and that's a good thing. The TVs are plentiful, but like the bar they are placed oddly. The layout of the bar is like a railroad apartment, but I suppose if I was 21 again, I wouldn't care what shape the bar was. Decent food, cheap beer and a chintzy interior. So...a great place to duck into and watch the game on a cold weekend day

friendly tavern with homey food!. Have you been to The Pour House for Lunch? Their new winter specials are great, homemade and cheaper than the food court in the Prudential! The beef stew a la mode (topped with mashed potatoes) is one of the best lunches I have had since transferring to the Back Bay. I've also tried the Sloppy Joes with macaroni and cheese and the chicken and spinach melt. I love the way the bartenders and servers treat their repeat customers. Even though I'm female, I always feel comfortable eating lunch at the bar by myself. Its a great people watching crowd, very ecletic mix of tradesmen, college students and professionals. A must try for lunch!!

The best of Boylston!!. If you're looking for a value--look no further! The menu, portions and beers are huge!!! The value is incredible and there is always something fun going on!! I went there last Sunday for one of the best breakfasts ever, and could still watch football!! I was pleasantly surprised to find they just introduced the NFL Ticket. It can be a struggle to find a seat since there is no hostess, and parking space rules apply to finding a table, but for the service, price and value, there is no better place in Boston!! A must visit when on Boylston!!

service is AWFUL. the pour house was my favorite bar in the back bay for two reasons: its cheap and the food is good. so, my boyfriend and i (who were frequent customers) made the decision to put up with the rude, awful service. however, a recent experience there has drawn the line and we will never go back. the bartenders were incredibly rude to us and handled a situation which could have been diffused by politeness very poorly. horrible customer service. we have been overcharged, ignored by waitstaff, gotten the wrong orders, etc. having gone there about once a week for nearly a year, my boyfriend and i can think of only TWO waitresses in that entire time who were competent and friendly. despite the very good and cheap food, it's not worth it to be treated rudely. we will be taking our business elsewhere.

Two words: Burger Mania!. Good food cheap! Especially on Saturday evenings when "Burger Mania" happens (half price burgers!) Despite what some others have said, the burgers are decent (not incredible, but not awful either), and well worth the price. Good beer selection helps wash those burgers down. If you can't find a table upstairs, try downstairs. Sure it's hot and sweaty and a bit funky, but if that bugs you, go have a freakin' cup of tea at the Four Seasons! It's kind of loud at times, but not so loud that you can't carry on a conversation.

It Stinks. Incredibly rude service. Food that makes high school cafeterias seem like gourmet cuisine. From a native Bostonian: PASS THIS ONE BY!

the good and the bad. If your date for this weekend tells you he is taking you to the Pour House please make sure you wear your most comfy shoes. You have to seat yourself and on a friday or saturday night this can be a task. We ended up separating..one up stairs and one down to wait for a table to free up. They definitely have alot on the menu. I am a very picky eater and still had a hard time deciding. Then again it is your regular pub food but at just about the best price you will find in Boston. Great place for the struggling student. And if your date doesn't work out there seemed to be plenty of singles looking to mingle.

Awful Burgers; Rude Waitstaff. Burgers are just plain bad. Sure, they're cheap. They're still overpriced. Their staff is among the rudest and most incompetent in the entire city.

You want cheap burger and fries? Go to McDonalds. The food is better there and the help at McDonalds is much more friendly than that at The Pour House.

Best Burgers Ever!. Pour House is the best place in Boston. Not only is the food great, but it is wicked cheap (ah, to use that strange New England word). Also, the menu is quite extensive, bad for the indecisve, good for everyone else! I highly recommend the brunch!

Dive Alive!. Get in where you fit in! And we all can fit in where you get a pint glass of Jack and Coke for a shade over 4 bucks, wearing noting but an old college crewneck and a pair of jeans if not pajama bottoms. Approachable females, oxymoron sure, but what about this place isn't (see Dives in the Back Bay). The bar staff actually encourages you to get drunk. The wiatress even shed a tear when I declined her advances towards me...okay I said I would have a water in lieu of my ninth J&C.

Food: Never had anything but a burger here. So try a Hawaiian Burger otherwise, eat elsewhere if you can.

Drinks: 4.25 Jack and Coke 'nuff said playah.

Atmosphere: Collegiate Comfy and you can flirt with the Waitresses.
