DO NOT BUY FROM HERE. THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF! I just bought a Herschel Duffle Bag and these guys mislead me. They made me wait 6 weeks for my delivery and also MADE ME PAY 20 Sterling POUNDS extra for customs, which they didn't clarify in their item description. VERY MISLEADING AND SLY SELLER. PLEASE DO NOT GET RIPPED OFF LIKE I DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!
avoid the rudness – I will never go back to that store and its really sad... cause they have a lot of nice stuffs but...
the customer service is horrible, the people are rude and don't seems interested to help or take comics orders. + the comics orders are never accurate they tried to put comics or publicity ( the kind that u need to pay for) that i didn't order... same numbers in double even in triple or the special edition that i didn't ask for.... and its not possible to return or exchange it at home u realize u have twice the same number.
they don't have a proper system to take care of their clients needs or orders, so unless u need something they already have and don't need information
i will now buy my comics online... at least it will be easier to get what i really want and they wont try to hide stuff i don't want in my order.
Alll these years still a fun store to shop. – Every time I go in to one of these stores it smells the same no matter which one you go into. Its not a bad smell but a smell of fun.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! AVOID at all costs!! – I placed an order with Newbury Comics online on the 17th of December. I paid extra for the "expedited" shipping which claims that it will take an estimated 2-3 business days, rather than the regular shipping which takes 2-7 days. Knowing that it might be a little more than 3 days was fine with me since I gave myself some cushion for Christmas (Xmas would be the 6th business day, which I imagined would be the very last day that it would arrive.)
After a couple of days I did not receive a shipping notification, so I emailed customer service. I received a reply with a tracking number, as well as a notification that some orders have experienced delays up to THREE weeks, and that I would have to wait as long as that until 1/08/10! This led to a series of emails which came to no conclusion but that I would "just have to wait," at which point I said No, no no, and no. Three weeks for an EXPEDITED packaged that is supposed to take three DAYS? No. I immediately used my tracking # at USPS only to discover USPS did not have my package at all! I called back to USPS three times and got the initial Supervisor's Supervisor, who told me the package was never accepted from Newbury Comics; they did not have my package at any facility from which it could have shipped out of Mass. to California (where my mother and sister were eagerly awaiting their Christmas package). I immediately went online to Newbury Comics only to discover there is no phone number available at which time I called their Harvard Sq. location to ask for a number. I was given their head office in Brighton, and told to call and hit 0 for an operator. He told me I would be transferred to a person, unfortunately I reached a voicemail machine. Disappointed, I called back to the head office and pressed # for their directory at which time I was connected with a customer service representative. She asked for my order number and told me she had no more information for me than she "thinks" USPS got my package. Not good. I asked to speak to her supervisor and she informed me that he would not be able to tell me anything else. After insisting for several minutes that I would still like to speak with him, she finally put me on the phone with a guy named Matt. I have never, and I repeat NEVER, been so disrespected and dismissed. He was loud, rude, spoke over my concerns continuously with a dismissive, "you will have to wait six business days," and even HUNG UP ON ME. I repeat, the supervisor of customer service at Newbury Comics HUNG UP on me. I paid extra for expedited shipping for a reason, and when I asked for a shipping refund he informed me that he would not give me any refund at all. The only thing they did was "reship" the order which I doubt has even happened, and now my present will not be here in time for Christmas. I have called and left a message with the VP of merchandising, Valerie Forgione, however I am not optimistic that she will be able to help in any way. I am SICK of them! I paid EXTRA for expedited shipping for a reason, told it might be up to THREE weeks, and then refused when I requested a refund on shipping!! This is by far the WORST experience I have ever had with customer service ANYWHERE (and credit card companies and computer techs are pretty bad). I will NEVER ever purchase anything from them again, and I will be pursuing any type of action possible!!
Alternative culture goes mainstream at this popular pop-culture emporium. – The Scene
Once upon a time, this was a fringe store catering mainly to punk-rock diehards and hipper-than-thou college kids. But ever since alternative rock started blending with the prevailing trends, Newbury Comics' time has come. The store does a great job of mixing the organization and layout of a chain store with the expertise and range of a specialist store.
Newbury Comics should be your first stop for new rock and pop on CD and vinyl. As is the case with most chains, Newbury's tape selection isn't strong. The store does what it does brilliantly--prices are typically a few dollars less per CD here than at other retail chains--but if you're looking for something other than rock, you'll do better elsewhere. There's also a roomful of eclectic novelties, including posters, magazines and yes, comics.
Still the Best! – I am a loyal Newbury Comics customer because they continue to offer a great selection of CDs at the best prices. My only gripe is that they don't have enough listening stations, so I go to Tower/Virgin and listen and then buy the CD at Newbury. They also have cool gifts, T-shirts, etc. If you are sick of paying $17.99 for CDs, head over immediately.
CHEAP! – The lowest prices in Boston for new rock and pop CD's...period!
If you're looking for Classical and Jazz then i'm afraid that you'll have to look elsewhere:)
A wicked good time! – This is by far the best music store in the U.S. It has all sorts of music...and if they don't have what you are looking for they will get it shipped to the store for you...free of charge. In addition, they have funny gifts and collectibles, hard to find music, and a great used CD selection. They are reasonably priced compared to many other major record stores. The staff is into their music...but very nice and willing to help. They will even play a CD over the speakers in the store if you aren't sure about it.
--a wicked good time.
Great stuff – I like obscure music and they always have what I'm looking for. There's also always someone interesting to look at.
