really REALLY bad chicken.
wow all i can say is there is a boston restaurant review show with a couple of brothers who rave about how great this place is, i really belive the the only places that get good reviews from them are the places thay pay them(LOL). THE CHICKEN WAS DREADFULL!!! underseasoned and way way over cooked! and just grade d scrawny little unrecognisable chicken parts(lol) the breast was smaller than a normal chicken thigh, the thigh was some odd shaped flat thing.my wife made the mistake of getting extra crispy! she said thats not extra crispy, thats cement!! it was really gross, too bad because the waffles are pretty good.

Fried Chicken - Ehhhh, It's ok..
I recently went to the Hen House looking for good fried chicken. Sadly, I was pretty disappointed. I ordered a 10 piece of fried chicken (no sides), The chicken had a nice crunch. Very crispy (probably double dipped). The chicken itself was cooked well. Very juicy. That being said, don't expect any spice flavor. It is a very bland fried chicken. This is not a "stand alone" fried chicken. This chicken is about sauces (buffalo, honey, etc.). I tried a few of their sauces, but nothing really wowed me. I see where the Hen House is trying to go with there food...and it looks exciting. However, at this time, the fried chicken needs to go back to the drawing board for some re-work.

Forget about the Hen House..
I REALLY wanted this place to be good because I love GOOD Fried Chicken. The chicken tasted old and oddly flavored. The breading was also an odd fine breadcrumb that was not quite right for the chicken. I got it to go for 4 other people along with myself. We all agreed that the mashed potatoes tasted old and gummy and were turning brown. The mac and cheese was also dry and was starting to go bad. The onion rings are factory made, frozen and low quality. The prices are low but I guess you get what you pay for. Too bad this place is not more like Fontain's Fried chicken in Dedham. Now that was a FRIED CHICKEN meal! This place is owned by the same owners as Victoria's diner across the street. Victoria's is WAY better quality. For now I will skip the Hen House. My quest for good friend chicken continues!

Best Wings in Boston.
I've gone here twice and still haven't had their signature dish: waffles and wings. But I've had both their boneless and their regular buffalo wings -- they're awesome. The boneless tenders are HUGE. My wife and I ordered 12, thinking we could eat 5 or 6 each. I think we had 3 or 4 before being full. Today we ordered 24 regular wings and 6 boneless for a party of 5 -- and still have plenty left. The bone-in wings are giant too. Really plump, juicy and the sauce is perfect. We like it with medium heat, so we order the Mild. It has the perfect spice mixed with tanginess.
Side note: Their menu is pretty extensive and includes lots of southern specialties. We've ordered a sandwich here too, and it wasn't great. Stick with their wings. Also, make sure to ask for celery and blue cheese at pick-up since it can be forgotten. And although the location isn't ideal (right near Liquorland and South Bay Plaza), the inside is pretty cool and trendy -- considering it's a wing place on Mass Ave.
