The Scene
Not that there's much competition, but this Beacon Hill institution is considered by most to be the neighborhood's top bar. Many regulars call this their local pub, so expect a laid-back, mature crowd of area workers and residents with the odd tourist thrown in. The bar is ideal for those looking to throw some darts or watch a Sox game (in other words, this isn't a great place to meet people). Students and other energetic carousers will feel more at home down the street at the Beacon Hill Pub.

The Draw
The bar's dark, weathered environs drip with old-school atmosphere, the better to enjoy a pint of ale or stout while skimming the newspaper or enjoying a chat with friends. Friendly bartenders split their time between mixing drinks and pouring pints from an above-average beer selection. Hungry patrons enjoy simple bar fare (think deli sandwiches and burgers).

I had a great time there. I wanted a burger but they don't sell them so I ordered a Ruben, they were very generous with the meat. I washed the first half down with a Bass draft. For the second half, I ordered a different draft that was way to bitter for me, after a half a beer, I told the bartender how awful it was to my palate and he actually let me sample two beers until I settled on a Sam's lager. I was simply going to pay for the new beer bet he traded me straight up. I sat with a local who immigrated here from England in 1982 and according to the bartender, has not left his seat on the bar since he got here! He (Peter) made me fell very welcome and when I tried to leave, he bought me a beer and we chatted another hour. The Sevens capped of a memorable day visiting the Hub.

Never in my life have I felt so at home than in The Sevens Pub. Everyone from the locals to the bar staff are friendly and polite. My husband and I refer to it as our "Winchester" after the movie Sean Of The Dead.

I'm a transplanted Bostonian looking forward to a visit later this month. I'm hoping to meet a childhood friend while I'm there. When we were both single we used to meet at the Sevens on Sunday afternoons once in a while. So much has changed, I thought, but wouldn't it be cool to meet Carol there again? A quick Google search later I found it! I'm so happy the Sevens is still there! It's the kind of place you don't forget, because in a "concept" restaurant world where bars tend to feel like airport terminals (all alike, that is), the Sevens has a distinct personality. Places like it are hard to find in Phoenix. And, a previous reviewer mention Reubens -- all the better! So, Carol, what do you say?
