Vegetarian options and Cheap but good eats. LOVED the seafood typhoon and their tea is to die for... My friend also liked the fact that they had a lot of vegetarian options.... definitely will be back.

Decent Thai food. My fiance and I ate there twice. the food is not the greatest thai food in boston but we go there because we live just 2 blocks away.

The service is not at all good, for instance we ask for steamed they give us fried food.

The wait staff laugh about the customers behind the register or when they leave. They also lack knowledge of the english language which often makes it difficult when ordering.

The last time we ate there we left the same time the waitress was going off duty and she slammed the door in our faces!

Just like many other reviewers on here we usually go because of location however after the door incident I am not sure if I would ever be eating here again.

Watered down thai food. Good prices. I love thai food. I've eaten thai food all over the world. I've visited thailand many times and one of the many reasons I love that country is that I love their food! But what you eat at this restaurant is NOT thai food. Everything is diluted. The food is extremely bland. I repeatedly have to ask them for more cilantro for my Tom Yum Goong. Why do I keep eating there? Coz I live in Beacon Hill and it's the only Thai restaurant around and when my girlfriend and I don't feel like cooking and want thai food, it's the only option! The reason it's still in business is because of its location. We usually walk out of the place unsure if the food was boring or if it sucked, forget about it, and then 2 weeks later go back. If any one opens a half way decent thai restaurant around beacon hill (business opportunity everyone!) this place would not last more than a day. In response to the previous review, neither I nor my gf have ever got sick from their food and we've eaten there many times. So there you have it - it's not real thai food, the food is bland, the service is good, and the food will not make you sick. What we've been doing lately is getting thai food delivered from "King of Siam" and eating at home when we want some decent thai food but don't want to schlep across the city.

Outstanding Thai food and excellent prices make this neighborhood spot a Beacon Hill favorite.. The Scene
King & I has perfected the art of casual and fulfilling neighborhood dining, attracting a devoted throng of locals. Medical staffers from nearby hospitals dine next to moneyed Beacon Hillers and students after a satisfying, easy-on-the-wallet meal. Blond wood paneling and Asian art prints make for a tranquil setting. Attentive, pleasant service is always spot-on and readily accommodates special requests.

The Food
Countless combinations of seafood, chicken, duck, beef and colorful vegetables make up the lengthy menu. Don't be disarmed by the modest pricing--dishes are large and hearty. The house salad is immense and topped with a light peanut sauce. Curry bird, a chicken or duck dish in yellow curry (spiced to your liking), is sweetly studded with pineapple chunks. Pair that with one of the 15 modestly priced wines by the glass and still have money left over for a cab home.

Made me sick. I live in Beacon Hill and I've been to King and I several times. The food is always decent, but its usually all sort of fishy tasting. About 50% of the time they mess up my take out order, forget an item and/or over-charge me. I dont really like their food and i think the restaurant is dirty, but for some reason (I guess b/c it's convenient) I continued to eat there. The line was crossed after my most recent visit when I got severely ill a couple hours after my meal. I have never been so sick in my life and i never want anyone to go through what i went through last week. I do not recommend The King and I.

Bland!. I really don't understand all of the great reviews on this restaurant. I found it to be very bland and boring Thai. I thought it to be just an off night when I went the first time so I tried it again and ordered something different, but still bland. Yes it is cheap, but the old saying is very true here-you get what you pay for. I live on Beacon Hill 2 blocks from this restaurant and LOVE Thai but I get in a cab and go to the south end for my Thai to Equator.

Best Secret in the City. This Thai spot is a secret few know about. It's probably the greatest Thai food you will ever taste. Very vegetarian friendly, with a decent wine and imported beer list. After some Pad Thai and a 'Crunchy Salad' on a cold night back in Dec. 2003, I moved to Beacon Hill and sometimes I think it was just because of this amazing Pad Thai---Simply Amazing!

Great Deal. Superb Thai food at a great value. Lots of options. Service is excellent. Fantastic value -most dishes are $7.50 and you get really large portions. Try the soups too. The coconut soup and the beef noodle soup are highly tasty!
