Mediocre. Food was mediocre and greasy. service was below avg. we were rushed--entrees brought immediately after appetizers. plates taken away quickly.

charged 20% gratituity for a group of 3!

excuse me....

there are lots of places like this in the north end, w/ better food and service

Cibo's straightforward menu of familiar Italian favorites is dotted with modern arrangements (pan-fried Italian greens with crisp polenta strips). The spare, comfortable dining room yields an intimate, romantic atmosphere. On warm summer nights, lines have been known to stretch down the sidewalk, and potential customers gaze through the windows to look at steaming plates of linguine puttanesca and pappardelle with salmon.

No complaints from me. I have been to Cibo twice- once tonight and once nine months ago. Tonight, when I was walking around the North End, I hoped I would stumble upon Cibo again- not remembering its name after trying a variety of places in the North End in the last year. To my surprise, we just happened to find it, and the experience was as good the second time as the first.

In both cases, the food was excellent and the service was prompt. I have tried several appetizers (great calamari and mozzarella) and have had both linguine primavera and the artichoke ravioli (tonight's special). Both were great, and my request to change sauces was accomdated both times.

The first time I went, the server was a bit brusque, tonight we had a wonderful and friendly server. About the first experience- I have had FAR more rude service at other places in the North End than I have had at Cibo, so I'd suggest taking other people's complaints with a grain of salt.

Overall: well worth the trip and better than a lot of other places in the North End

Don't go here if you want a nice evening!. The only reason why I went here was because Giacomo's had a line outside and I wanted to try something new. The place was practically empty upon entering so I thought we'd give it a go. The meal and everything was fine until I walked outside after leaving a $5 tip on a $38 bill one of the waiters came after me to tell me I was a $1 short on tip!!! Let's do the math here, so you would rather have your dollar tip rather than have a returning customer? I'm sorry I didn't carry a calculator with me or everytime I go out to eat! You're service wasn't all that!

Well Worth It!. With regard to the poor reviews other people have posted: the staff at Cibo don't take crap from customers. If you are late for a reservation or are going to be difficult, they will honestly tell you to go somewhere else. But, if you come here not expecting a 5-star experience, you will not be disappointed. It's a fun place to come for a good, casual, satisfying, delicious meal. The service is prompt and accomodating. The staff know their food. The menu is wonderful, so much more interesting than some of the cookie-cutter Italian restaurants in the N. End. Portions are huge and the food is fresh. Cibo is not a fancy-pants place and it is reflected in the reasonable prices they charge.

the best place !!!! exelent. I have never emailed anybody to leave a message but I would like to say we had the most wonderful and delicious dinner at your restaurant. We ate at your fine restaurant the night before Easter Sunday. Was a crazy night.The waiter and everybody in the restaurant was so nice. We really enjoyed ourselves and the food was SUPER. You don't mind spending a little more when it was that good We will be back. i can't wait ..

Dehumanizing Experience. I'm usually not the type to participate in these forums (I'm not too "web saavy"), but my encounter with the rudest waitstaff ever prompted me to send a warning to everyone. I can go in depth about how they refused to accomodate my son's food allergy or how they rushed us and made us feel unwelcome, but in a nutshell--from management down, Cibo's overblown ego exudes discourtesy and disrespect. Places like Cibo are a dime a dozen in the North End, and no amount of accolades for your food should be an excuse to treat customers like yesterday's garbage. (Try Giaccomo's, we went there the following week and the food and service were both fantastic.) It's a given that you'll spend more than usual at the North End (if you're on a family budget like myself), so don't let your special dining experience be ruined by these horrible people.

unhappy customer. Worst experience at cibo. was a wait-understood but were rudely told 'we dont know!' about wait. waited 25 minutes in cold, watched others be seated before us who had reservations. Were 3 of us, they squeezed us at table for 2,were told no when asked for seat at table that could accomodate better. waitstaff was flip/rude,certainly didnt care about satisfying customer. Was brought wrong glass of wine, friend was brought risotto when asked for penne. I asked for spinach with my fettucini romano,was immediately told there'd be extra charge. After all we'd been through would have been nice if they could have just included cheap veggie as part of meal, was told it's expensive for them-wasnt like i'd asked for extra chicken/shrimp. Never been to a place that charged extra for spinach, tomato, etc. was appalled by tone/rudeness of waitstaff. wont be going there again. Thumbs down.

The best.. I often feel ripped off when I go out for Italian (inexpensive pastas for $20 a plate), but my meal was worth far more than it cost. I had the best seafood pesto pasta dish I have ever had, and there was enough tender, perfectly seafood on it to fill a small fisherman's net. My friend, who is Italian and knows from Italian food, was also extremely pleased with his pasta primavera. Do not miss the broccoli rabe appetizer. All is delish.

Worst Meal I've Had in the North End. I live in the North End and have passed by Cibo many times, thought it looked cute. I had my friend take me there for my birthday dinner, and since I'm trying to eat healthy, I ordered the grilled chicken. It was served completely charcoal burnt, along with a side of zucchini also burnt. It was thrown onto the plate as if I had cooked it at home, not caring about presentation. I felt completely ignored as a customer and taken advantage of. For $14, this meal was completely unremarkable.
