my favorite. this is my favorite restaurant. when ever im home, i cant wait to eat there. im the type of person that when i travel, its all about the food...and this is as traditional as it comes. my first experience was with my family, its a very friendly and family type of atmosphere, but i noticed the waiter talking to the cook...he only spoke italian! good sign, plus, it felt like i was in my grandfathers kitchen. it only got better from there. the food was fantastic. the chicken marsala is my fav, but the lobster ravioli, uh, need i say more?!? (=
The Best. My wife and I came across Anna's during our trip to Boston (from California). It was the best dang chicken marsala I have EVER had. Period. The food was incredible!
Great Italian Food and Service..
I go to Mother Anna's several times a year. Food is excellent, IF you go with a bunch of people call ahead you can order family style. We had Chick Parm, eggplant, soups, antipasto........
The service is excellent. The wait staffs timing is perfect. They come over and check on you at the right time. I highly recommed this great italian food.
Great Customer Service. My husband and I decided to eat at Mother Anna's after a couple of ladies recommended it to us as we were looking around for a place to have dinner. We found a few places that we liked but decided on Mother Anna's because of the recommendation and the outside sitting area. We were promptly seated and our server was attentive enough. The dressing that came highly recommended from our server was a disappointment. I was upset when I found an insect in the salad that was still alive. I kept my cool. I turned down an offer of another salad. ?! My husband had the lobster dish and I had baked ziti. He liked what he ordered. What I ordered was ok but I was not impressed with the sauce. I expected better. We had eaten at Bertucci's the night before and that was better. How sad! I recommend Al Dente any day over this place.
Great Food, Nice ambience. We went out on Saturday night, ready to deal with long wait listst for seating. We had a great experience with Mother Anna's. They were able to seat us inside right away (though it wasn't the most optimal table) and the service was very attentive. The meals were delicious (really really hot though!) The Chicken Broccoli was SO YUMMY and the lasagna was great once it cooled down. The area is fantastic (obviously, its Little Italy) and I really recommend the half carafe of sangria. Enjoy!
Romantic and Inexpensive. This is a local favorite of mine. It is fairly priced and very good quality meals. The atmosphere is very relaxed and intimate. I'm taking my girlfriend for Valentine's Day! It's also relatively easy to get into while many other restaurants in the area are tough during busy times like weekends and holidays.
nothing special.
Perhaps the place is better at dinner time (we had lunch there) but the food was neither good
nor bad. Just average.
One of the North End's oldest restaurants endures by delivering classic Italian fare in a comfy setting..
The Scene
Sitting at the very beginning of Hanover Street, Mother Anna's has been an easy-to-find favorite among locals and tourists for seven decades. While the dining room's view of the city has been obstructed by the Big Dig, the rest of the seating areas remain comfortable, with exposed brick and candles adding a relaxed vibe. Pleasant servers deliver glasses of Chianti from the tiny bar, which is usually patrolled by a member of the Capparella clan (the restaurant's owners).
The Food
From cheesy baked ziti to earthy stuffed mushrooms to hearty chicken, steak or veal cacciatore the straightforward menu provides diners with dozens of dependable options. Entrees like creamy lobster ravioli and minimalist eggplant parmigiana come with a side of pasta or salad, so consider sharing just one appetizer to start. For dessert, take your pick from a list of classics: Creamy cannolis, decadent tiramisu and sweet spumoni are sure to satisfy.
Great Food, Great Service. There isn't a dish that I haven't tasted. The food is excellent and the service is incredible. The Veal Roberto is out of this world! The service is always great!
