Editorial Review for Mother Anna's – by Citysearch Editors
The Scene
Sitting at the very beginning of Hanover Street, Mother Anna's has been an easy-to-find favorite among locals and tourists for seven decades. While the dining room's view of the city has been obstructed by the Big Dig, the rest of the seating areas remain comfortable, with exposed brick and candles adding a relaxed vibe. Pleasant servers deliver glasses of Chianti from the tiny bar, which is usually patrolled by a member of the Capparella clan (the restaurant's owners).
The Food
From cheesy baked ziti to earthy stuffed mushrooms to hearty chicken, steak or veal cacciatore the straightforward menu provides diners with dozens of dependable options. Entrees like creamy lobster ravioli and minimalist eggplant parmigiana come with a side of pasta or salad, so consider sharing just one appetizer to start. For dessert, take your pick from a list of classics: Creamy cannolis, decadent tiramisu and sweet spumoni are sure to satisfy.

this is my favorite restaurant. when ever im home, i cant wait to eat there. im the type of person that when i travel, its all about the food...and this is as traditional as it comes. my first experience was with my family, its a very friendly and family type of atmosphere, but i noticed the waiter talking to the cook...he only spoke italian! good sign, plus, it felt like i was in my grandfathers kitchen. it only got better from there. the food was fantastic. the chicken marsala is my fav, but the lobster ravioli, uh, need i say more?!?
