The Scene
Though Pomodoro isn't as big or stylish as Hanover Street's other trattorias, it stands out by being communal and fun. Small tables--already crowded by bottles of mineral water, mounds of bread and bowls of olive oil--fill up quickly, causing an equal mix of tourists and locals to form a line outside. Social servers are quick to greet regular customers and point out favorite menu items.
The Food
With a menu that redefines the concept of Italian fare as comfort food, the kitchen provides patrons with a satisfying spot in which to enjoy a full meal or a light bite. Even the simplest of dishes arrive with a gourmet touch: An order of lightly fried calamari comes with a bowl of chunky plum tomato sauce; a succulent veal chop is served over a mound of zesty lemon risotto and savory mixed mushrooms.

We made a reservation for 3 and baby. When we arrived, they said they didn't have high chairs!!?? They offered us no solutions, nothing! Not even the courtesy to try to borrow one from a neighboring restaurant. We had to eat at another restaurant. Very disappointing service. FYI, we found that many restuarants in the North End do not have high-chairs.

This Italian restaurant is smaller than many other eateries in the North End with capacity for 24 patrons, but it is quite popular. Space is tight and the tables are small, but the food is outstanding and portions are large. I usually start with a casear salad follwed by a large choice of pasta selections, you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu here. Serves beer and wine. Does not accept credit cards; cash only

we'll try to sum this up as quickly as possible. There were 6 total tables, only two of which were occupied, so there was no need for a reservation on a Friday night. My date had to go to the bathroom and was told that he had to go across the street to another restaurant. They only had glasses of "house wine" which came from a stock of the cheapest bottle I've ever seen. Not much selection for dinner. The waitress was so bored that she stood in the hallway and watched everyone eat. When it came time to pay we were told that the place was a "cash only" restaurant so everyone had to run outside to find the nearest atm. Beware of the seafood medley, which is called something exotic but really seems like a combination of everything left over from everyone else's entrees. There are plenty of other wonderful places to eat in the North end.
