Cheap Chinese Food. Let's just say, I can see the China Town Cafe from apartment window. And let's just say, I've been here more than a couple of times.

Born in raised in the suburbs, my Chinese foods desires involve American-ized flavors: sweet and sour chicken, lo mein and fried rice. China Town Cafe is as close to those suburban chinese restaurants that I'm used to that I can find in chinatown.

The portions are huge. My BF and I usually get one dish and split and we're good for dinner and then lunch the next day. We usually get the chicken or pork lo mein or fried rice. It is flavorful and satisfying.

For rice dishes, I recommend the Soo's General Gau Chicken (R38). It's a breaded chicken and the sauce is just the right tangy-ness.

Not everything is so great about this cafe. I can't really explain the szechuan chicken, but it's not great. Mostly it was a strong raw peanut scent/ flavor. It was really undesirable. Also, the lo mein and the fried rice lack a lot of the good stuff. It's a lot of noodle and rice and not so much meat and vegetables.

For cheap and quick Chinese food, you can't beat it!

REAL chinese food. great place for a quick cheap eat. huge portions too.

menu is mile-long. prep yourself in advance or your neck will hurt staring at the board hung at ceiling height. crowded during peak times; best for takeouts.

good quality inexpensive Chinese. I work right by this place and I only wish I could justify going out to eat more so I could eat there everyday. One entree is rarely more than $8 and can almost feed two people for dinner (no problem for lunch). The food has a good clean taste and they have a great variety of noodles. The only problem is that the menu is a little tricky to navigate as it is not always clear what you're getting unless you know exactly what types of noodles or rice each dish has already. If you ask, though, they are pretty helpful about explaining it to you (though they might try to rush you a bit) and you can pretty much tell them what you want and they will make it for you.

Inexpensive Chinese food that Chinese folks like. Very good barbecued boneless spare ribs, roast pig and duck. Okay for noodles, but better for rice based platters. Service is fast. A place to stop in and pick something up real quick, as there's nothing in the way of ambience.

Quick meals, cheap eats. Good Chinese food for fast-food prices. Don't expect a fancy atmosphere, but the food is good and they make it fast. Great for a quick lunch or take out meal. Try the soup noodles too... delicious with Char Siu (roast pork)!
