“Diner food, but all night long :-) The pancakes are awesome.”
Terrible Service and food even for a late night diner!. Pay the extra a go to the news next door or somewhere else. This place has Cockroache Hideaway written all over it. I usually like breakfast food to be greasy and cheap for late night food. This place had the worst service I have seen. The food was below average even with a buzz on. 2 of the 4 people in my group got chocolate milk($3.00)...within 3 minutes, both went into the bathroom and threw up(one of them didnt drink that night). The waitress didnt even address it or even call the manager over!
Best late nite eats in town. Out drinking, partying and bar hopping - need a quick hit. South Street Diner is the cure. Don't wait too close to 1:30-2AM. You won't get a seat. Best value for bfast and you can even meet great people waiting in line.
holy crap.. hot waitresses, giant omelets (try the broccoli-cheddar-cream cheese-potato combination), surprisingly good coffee....if you're drunk and hungry, you'll get more than a fabulous meal. if you can ignore the huge weekend lines, you'll eat greasy delicious wonderful food in a crazy environment. and for god's sakes tip your waitress well. they don't make girls like that everywhere, y'know.
Patricia. It is what it is, a diner, its not high end, its simply and tasty, no frills and consistant, what more do you want from a diner, for me its perfect every time, and if you are lucky enough to get Patrica as your waitress, then you will definatly leave smiling.
Utterly Disgusting. I was excited to grab breakfast at a classic Boston diner, but within minutes everything went down hill. You can't beat a $3.80 breakfast special, but $3.80 buys nothing but a nightmare. The scrambled eggs were mushy, the corned beef hash was soggy (not crisp), and the home fries were tasteless. The air was stale, ceilings were stained, staff was dull, coffee was bland, etc. Do not let ANYONE you know or love go to South Street Diner.
Dismal diner. Saw a user rating of 9.8 and figured this must be a gem in the rough. It is, however, simply rough. On Sunday AM, it was bustling, but there was no wait. The service was awful anyway. The place seats about fifty and the grill is literally feet from the booths, yet the food was a loooong wait. The pancakes were tasty, but were carelessly crumpled up on the plate. The eggs were over medium, just as requested but the sausage was cold and the waitress had to be asked 3 times! for the coffee and juice. The only way I would rate this place a nine is if I staggered in, wasted out of my mind at 3AM and managed to quaff down a gut bomb without retching. Dont waste your time here unless it is 3AM and you have little else to choose from.
ALL NIGHT FOOD!!!.
This place is great. The food is very good, and the waitresses are friendly, it is a page out of the past, which gives it it's own unique ambience.
Definately the place for a great, cheap breakfast, or burger!
south street all night. Diner food, but all night long :-) The pancakes are awesome. The sandwiches are greasy. What more could you want after the clubs have thrown you out?
Nothing could be finer, than eating at th. Its the place to eat when all else is closed. But more importantly the food is really good, big burgers great omelettes, even vegiterian dishes. Its small but that adds to the enjoyment of it all.
SO EFFICIENT.
The line snakes out the door for the great grub here. But what the official comment fails to acknowledge is that the wait is really quite minimal. The staff passes out menus to the line on the sidewalk and takes your order there. Your meal and table are ready at the same time. They don't hurry you through your meal at all, but make sure all of your needs are addressed quickly.
They're also very patient with those who may have had a few too many...
