Nice location, seating, atmosphere. This is a solid place. I wouldn't put it in the extraordinary realm because I think the drinks are a little small and a little too sweet, and the food is OK - seems like microwaved dare, nothing made by scratch. But the atmosphere is very chill and the crowd is interesting. So overall, not a bad spot.
Classier than most. The Living Room isn't your average Boston bar. It certainly isn't Fenway/Red Sox-style or a hole in the wall and it also isn't the Oak Room. It is somewhere in-between. It caters to the young professionals, which is a nice change from the majority of places around town (which are dominated by the 21-24 year olds). It is located close to the North End, by the water, which is a nice location, and even has some outdoor seating, which you could be lucky to get. When I've gone, I sat inside in the "living room-style" area on couches and cushy stools. The martinis are their specialty and they have at least 30 on their menu ranging from the Butterfinger to the North End Cosmo. The drinks are very good. The bar has a nice classy atmosphere, while retaining the casualness of Boston in general (Boston, being not very upscale as a whole)
Good Times!. I had a great time at a holiday party held here, but it would've been nice to hear the conversation. The drinks were superb! Then two friends brought me here for an easy going afternoon for delicious apps and desserts (highlights of the whole meal).
Awesome place, will definitely return. Absolutley awesome place. The music was good, the food was great, and the martini's knocked my socks off. I had a blast.
Avoid this place if you can. I've had to visit this place twice over the two year interval (my friends decided to go there for drinks after dinner), this place is just getting worse every year. The staff is extremely rude, the atmosphere is nothing special and the drinks suck, plus you have to wait forever to be served. There are much better places out there for the money that you are paying. Will not go there again, lesson learned.
It is not often that we get such undeserved comments as this one. Generally they are from guests who, in our opinion, should not have anymore to drink and we politely tell them that. If "Cyrix" would like to contact us, we are always interested in why guests like or dislike our establishment. John
GREEEEAT!. I have been to this restaurant many times and it just keeps getting better! The food is outstanding and fair priced and the drinks are great as well! Every time I go here my girlfriend and I have an AMAZING dinner and drinks, followed by some great dessert! To top off the night we head across the street from the restaurant and have a wonderful walk along the water with great views! Overall I would rate the living room a 5+! I recommend it to everyone who wants a great night with someone special!
Bar - Masquerading as a Restaurant (Badly). I was looking for a nice, but not stuffy, restaurant for brunch - this seemed to fit the bill. Not even close. They call themselves 'homey', the word 'slovenly' is more appropriate. The food was mediocre at best, the coffee the worst I've ever had, cream was served in an espresso cup - and it wasn't cream, but milk. Just really, really bad if you're looking for decent food and service.
