Delicious steak and yummy cocktails. I went to Elephant and Castle for my boyfriend's company's holiday party, and it was a blast. The cocktails were delicious (try a White Russian here!), and the steak was to DIE for - I don't even eat red meat, but I tried a bite of the steak and have been craving it ever since. The pasta was also pretty good. Friday nights are also Karaoke Night, which seems fun, and I'm trying to get my friends to go with me. The only downside for me, being in my early 20s, was that the crowd of the bar seemed to be more in their 30s and up.
Fancy a pint?. Elephant and Castle can easily be mistaken for a restaurant more so than a pub. This isn't the kind of place where you'd want to sit for hours, watching the game and drink your sorrows away though. E&C is great for catching a power lunch, especially if you work in the area. They are also great for a quick drink after work, before you head home. The menu is americanized with a number of good options. I recommend their Irish beef stew with Guiness, which hits the spot for a good lunch or an early dinner. Nothing like a mash and beef stew washed down with an ale. Hits the spot indeed
Average Bar Food. Ate here several times while staying at hotel. Chicken potpie was yummy. Chicken pasta was not very good. Clam chowder was terrible for New England. Beer battered chicken fingers were greasy and tasteless. Neat atmosphere, good service.
An English-style pub, nestled in the heart of the Financial District..
In Short
Part of an international chain, the Elephant & Castle sports a long, mirrored mahogany bar that's popular with a distinct business clientele from the surrounding Financial District. Well over a dozen draft beers are available, including microbrews from California to Vermont. A fine selection of single malts keeps high rollers happy. The food menu lists such traditions as bangers and mash, steak and kidney pie, shepherd's pie, and fish and chips.
Elephant and Castle. Great Place for Networking. Perfectly Situated on Devonshire, a great place to meet clients or friends afterwork. Food is decent, drinks are reasonably priced. Live Jazz on Tuesday!
