The Scene
In a city known for its seafood, the Sail Loft deserves special mention, having satisfied its loyal clientele with steamed lobsters and broiled scrod for over 20 years. A low-key bar sits between nautical-themed dining areas. Friendly waitresses dispose of lobster carcasses with a smile.
The Food
Basic seafood--prepared broiled, fried or steamed--comes in healthy portions that won't break the bank. Looking beyond crowd favorites like fresh fish and chips or steamed lobster (served with mussels or a salad), curious diners consult the sheet of daily specials (try the lemon pepper swordfish steak when available). Land lovers, who somehow pass on the thick, homemade clam chowder, can choose from a lengthy list of gargantuan salads and sandwiches. Leave room for a slice of sinful Boston cream pie for dessert.

Their clam chowder is right up there with Legal Seafoods in my opinion. Big chunks of potato. Drinks are cheap there and the nachos are good as well. Big enough to feed 4 people. Registers are old school. Nice to see a restaurant stick to its old roots.

The bar itself is cool, but the bouncers are jerks. I liked the bar a lot until the bouncers came and treated us awful, I would never go there again, I've never been treated like that anywhere.

This is a little bar on the wharf in the North End of Boston on Atlantic Avenue. Great drinks and huge brandy snifters full of Oreo cookies on the bar. Great location, next to Christopher Columbus Park. Often frequented by local waterfront residents, it's a great night spot.
