1. If what you are looking for is a gathering of white cap meatheads who drink too much beer and pick up desperate women, then go to the rack.
The Rack Lacks. The Rack lacks all of the things people say about it. First, the crowd is in there very late 20's, 30's, 40's+. Second, you'll never get a table for pool unless you feel like waiting 2-3 hours. Thirs, so if you choose not to play pool and drink...surprise, surprise there is no real place to stand. The bar area is sooo small that everyone crowds around it. The music is decent...but that is its only redeeming quality.
The Best!.
Definitely the best bar in Boston! A few too many true yuppies in there but for the most part it is a good crowd. No punks or college losers looking to start fights. Beautiful waitresses, good food, average priced drinks, comfortable seating and just overall a perfect atmosphere.
The line can get long but it is for a reason! No bar is worth an hour wait so if the line is long don't go. But if the wait isn't too bad, there isn't a more complete bar in Boston.
Overhyped, overrated. Don't even bother going to the Rack on a Friday or Saturday night b/c it's not worth the long wait in line nor the cover. Once you get inside, you'll find a smoky meat market w/ obnoxious & pretentious wannabes, rude staff who think they're God's gifts to Boston nightlife, plus no service whatsoever. It's not quite as bad on weeknights, where there's more of an after-work crowd and it's not very crowded, and where the staff will actually treat you with some decency. If The Rack was in Manhattan, it'd be a nothing bar and would probably already be out of business since it doesn't have the class to compete against all the upscale bars/clubs in NYC.
Unbearable. OK... For starters, Citysearch, your desciption of this God-awful place is totally off. This is NOT a place for classy young professionals. This is a complete sausage fest filled with the most disgusting guys, cheesy, cheap women (who think they are 100% class) and idiotic bouncers who takt their jobs so seriously you'd think they were curing cancer. Though Boston does not have the best nightlife of any city I have lived in, I find it embarassing that this is the place people from out of town hear about. And celebs? Geraldo and a variety of local football/baseball players? I mean, is this Kansas or what? PLEASE somone shut this place down.
Bingo !!!. This place is awesome. the bartenders are cool. and the girl who brings the kamakazi is very beautiful and cool. this place rocks. girls are unbelievable. music makes you feel the best and relax your from your hectic weekday.
I vote TORTURE!. Yes, it is painful to go here. I was forced to attend a going away party for our receptionist here (good riddance!) She exemplified the low caliber of individual who lives at home and is earning some money for the first time since finishing up at the community college. Great place if you're looking for lowlifes. If you can read and can use words with more than two syllables correctly in a sentence, go anywhere else.
Simply..Not worth your time.
I have only been to The Rack once and that was enough to know I never want to go back.
I am totally embarrassed at what those visiting Boston must get as an impression of the kind of people we are, Unfriendly, Rude, Pretentious, Self absorbed you name it and to think I waited in line for all of this. Really...don't waste your time, there are allot of places in the Boston area where REAL people hang out.
Waste of time.... This place is pathetic... young 'professionals' that think they are God's gift to the world - most of which just got their first job and still don't have a clue. Don't waste your time... if you're looking to hang out with nice, normal people. Go there if you're tying to impress and be phony.
Pathetic losers. Wall to wall high school grads and juco wanna be's. This is where first generation white collar workers congregate and think they're cool. Too many of them jam in and no one can get an overpriced beer in a reasonable amount of time. Anyone with an ounce of class should go elsewhere. This place makes the crowd at Clarke's look good.
