want good service at the bar (lunch)--go there. I was really surprised how they treat their customers--with respect--go have a beer--simply one of the best pubs in Boston.
A Great Place To Chill.
With good pub food, a relaxed and friendly vibe, and great waitstaff and bartenders Mr. Dooley's is a great place for an after-work pint, a chat with friends, or a late-nite bite.
A particular treat is traditional Irish seisiún, which is presently held from 4-7 on Sundays.
While the place can get crowded at times, and there's live music on weekends, this isn't a packed, noisy, "do you come here often", boozy kind of place -- Rather, it's more like an authentic local pub in Ireland.
Definitely recommended.
Genuine, gimmick-free Irish pub provides perfectly poured pints and a most welcoming vibe..
The Scene
Mr. Dooley's sports the same lived-in feeling as a favorite pair of beat-up shoes. Down to the floorboards, the pub shows its age, but the tattered vibe is comfortable rather than disturbing. Portraits of notable Irishmen (including Mr. Dooley) peer down from dark green walls, onto patrons crammed into tiny tables and high-backed wooden booths. The mostly Irish staff greets customers warmly.
The Draw
This cozy, triangle-shaped tavern's atmosphere is unmatched by larger Irish pubs in the vicinity. A lack of gimmicks--and the absence of the seedy pick-up vibe of other nearby pubs--make this a reliable spot for a pint and a good time. Customers come from all walks of life, but by the end of some nights, everyone is clapping and foot-stomping along with traditional Irish tunes. A straightforward menu of pub fare (burgers, shepherd's pie, fish and chips) and creamy pints of Guinness prove popular at all hours.
Authentic Irish Pub. Stopped in for a few pints while in Boston. Nice authentic atmosphere. Friendly bartender and equally friendly locals.
Terry-best bartender in the city. They do it all very well here. The bartenders are very very friendly and it alwalys good for a quiet few.
One of the best in an Irish town. r. Dooley's is probably the best Irish pub in town. The Guinness pour is strong and the lunch and dinner menus dont disappoint. This is the kind of bar you go to relax with some friends and a drink, so dont expect your usual sardine can, loud Irish pub. Moreover, the live music makes Mr. Dooley's feel authentic. A good watering hole during lunchtime or happy hour.
