Attorneys, brokers and other movers and shakers flock to this Broad Street hot spot..
In Short
The suited crowd swarms in weeknight after weeknight, hanging around the central mahogany bar at this dimly lit, red-walled watering hole. Smooth-talking guys and gals fill both the street level courtyard and the breezy rooftop for after-work drinks and smokes. On warm nights, it's all one well-heeled party. A casual bar menu (burgers, wings) keeps patrons satiated, and several specialty drinks are available.
Mixed, but mostly bad.. It's an average bar for summer and afterwork. Don't bother though on Fri. or Sat. nights. Fridays are empty. Saturday is hit or miss, usually miss. Long waits to get in, get a beer, go to one of the few bathrooms and then you have to wait to go upstairs to the third floor "dance" floor, a term which should be used lightly since there aren't enough people allowed up there to create any sort of dancing atmosphere. hey hardly let anyone up there. Happy Hour Rhino. The Black Rhino is a great place in the summer after work. They offer outdoor seating on the patio with a live reggae band on certain nights. Also the roofdeck (4 flights up) is the best downtown. Ok, maybe it's the ONLY downtown but it's a great, quaint spot. Weekends can get packed and you may experience waiting in more than one line. Stick to the 5pm - 8pm crowd and you will have a pleasurable experience. Enjoy good bar food & generous drinks.
good stuff. Did not go inside. My boyfriend and I took one look at the madhouse inside and told the waitress.. "we'll just sit outside." Our waitress was awesome; very attentive and personable. Drinks were moderately priced.. the usual bar amount. They have a dress code.. no sneakers or shorts. Since we were sitting outside, we got to see some patrons being turned away because of sneakers. They were so pissed... but, geez, who goes to ANY bar in Boston wearing sneakers and shorts (unless it's on Landsdowne before a game)?
It thinks it is better than it is. I have to say the staff at this bar/dance place were about the rudest I have encountered in a long time. The only concern they have is making money. They are not concened at all about the customer's experience at the bar.
Ick. Probably my worst Boston Bar experience in the past nine years I have been here. The scene there is beat! I couldn't find one person that had ever been there before, and the set-up sucks. You have to wait on line to get in between the floors. We waited 45 minutes from the time we got there, to first check out the other levels (which were certainly not worth the rate or any cover they were charging...) Don't go here...Aqua, soHo (same owners) are so much better...
DO NOT GO HERE!!!.
I had the WORST experience EVER at the Black Rhino.
The bouncers are rude and on a serious power trip. The Bar is 4 stories tall, but after you WAIT in line to GET IN, you have to WAIT in ANOTHER LINE to get to the second floor and then WAIT in ANOTHER LINE to get to the third floor and so on.
Also, I went out side to smoke and before leaving ASKED the bouncer if I could get back to the 2nd floor when I returned. He said "sure". THAT WAS A BIG FAT LIE!
Also, the music was so loud that my ears are STILL RINGING!!!! We left after 45 minutes of HELL!!!!
FOUR FLOORS OF FUNK. Just walking by last weekend we could hear the music, the lights in THE REAL ALLEY!! you can see from the street yet another line, but un like most,"like across the street" there were people inside on all three floors i guess it was to cold for the roof to open the door guy were in all black and pretty cool as far as door guys go not all about the attitude inside was packed we had to wait togo upstairs, and then again togo up again each floor had different music, the female to male ratio was the best i've seen in along time. the bar was busy but still wasn't that bad of a wait. the bathroom is'nt big enough. it's phat all the different floormostly hip-hop d.j's are straight!! but i can't stress the females were everywhere. If your lookin, look at this place!!!!!
rhino roof. The roof deck is cool, but they only take cash...credit users must use the lower level bars. The place gets packed at night, fairly young professional crowd. Good music.
Good After Work. THis bar is great for after work drinks. It's classy, but not overdone,-- and great when the roof-deck is open.
