What People Are Saying About Hong Kong At Faneuil Hall

In Short – For sheer people-watching potential, few Boston nightspots are better. Downstairs, Abercrombie-clad students mingle with a distinctly local crowd. Upstairs, it's an urban dance scene, with a multiethnic crowd strutting its stuff, digging the hip-hop, and macking on the bridesmaids who got lost on their way to the bachelorette party. Groups of friends frequently congregate over inexpensive Scorpion Bowls; these sweet offerings taste like punch, and pack one as well.
Avoid their dance floor, but enjoy the bar

I heard about Hong Kong from some of my friends, who bragged about the scorpion bowls and dance floor, so I decided to check it out last weekend. They charged $5 at the door, plus another $5 to get upstairs to the "dance floor" which turned out to be a huge disappointment. Upon entering the second floor, I immediately regretted paying $5 to get up there; most people weren't even dancing, the dance space was kinda small and there were hardly any guys on the floor. The DJ was HORRIBLE, spinning mediocre hip hop with only the occasional new/hit song mixed in...he also changed songs way too quickly. Unfriendly staff and creepers stood on the edge of the dancefloor, audibly criticizing people's dance moves and just generally making fun of their customers (which was quite a diverse crowd of people).
However, the downstairs bar scene, though a bit dumpy, had a fun, upbeat, friendly atmosphere. Girls were singing karaoke to the dixi chicks and bon jovi, and the crowd and staff we much friendlier than the upstairs group. The $1 meat on a stick wasn't bad, considering the price, and the scorpion bowls were very enjoyable. I think I would go here again to start off a night of club hopping, but I plan to skip the dance scene at this place and hangout downstairs instead, where everyone seemed more relaxed and friendly.
- Pros: Pretty cheap
- Cons: bad dance scene

CALLING ALL WHITE TRASH!!!!
by Christopher Macdonald at Citysearch
You have to be from a trailer park in revere to like this place....
1) The staff and that troll asian owner/manager are disgusting.
2) they have 1 bathroom that smells like a sewer
3) they have a cover that is decent, but then charge you again to go upstairs.
4) after the troll asian four-eyed manaager charges you again to go upstairs, the fat "bouncer" upstairs tells you that you cant be up there (as if its like a VIP area) with a hood on your jacket. Keep in mind my friends hood wasnt on a sweatshiirt, it was a hooded sweater from Marc Jacobs.
5) If you want to go outside to smoke the white trash bouncers make you pounce through the trashy crowd to the little gay coat check guy and leave your ID and get a bracelet before you can go out \
6) The manager/owner (ugly Asian lady) must be on something to act like she does. People should go just to see how she acts and handles things. Its HYSTERICAL!. She needs to go back to her own country.
The bartenders on the first floor were super nice and good! Ladies, go somewhere else!!!\
THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!
- Pros: downstairs bartenders
- Cons: the ladt running the place, EVERYTHING else
