Vintage family snapshots, liquor posters and radios create a retro vibe at this minuscule, yet enormously popular bar and restaurant. Even the prices are retro--a dollar goes a long way. The wait for a seat often exceeds an hour, but it's worth the wait. Upscale comfort food prevails with a few fancy bistro-like touches (a goat cheese crostini appetizer, marinated steak tips) and the catch of the day. Great Drinks, Cool Atmosphere

by ericsonsnm at Citysearch

I have become a regular at Silvertone. As someone who works in downtown Boston, I am always looking for a good lunch spot. Their food is delicious, affordable, and they have a great bar selection. Service is spot-on and consistent, and it is fun whether you go on a weekday for lunch, or on a Saturday night for drinks with friends.

Great Food: Cheap Prices

by YEAGER at Citysearch

Silvertone is a great place to eat if looking for good prices. Drinks are very affordable as well. The third time I went in, the bartenders knew my name and drink of choice. Very cool place in the financial district.

Good Prices

by nunesie23 at Citysearch

This place is a good after work date place. The prices are good for comfort food, although I would say the the menu is pretty small. The ambiance is nice. There is usually a long wait for a table on a Thur. or Fri. night.

Save Money:

At a mere $10 above cost, all of Silvertone's wine and champagne bottles are a bargain. The same offerings can sometimes go for three times as much at other area establishments.

Although there is a large private dining room behind the bar, don't show up with a big group without calling ahead. It's only open on Friday evenings, or by reservation for special functions.
