The Kinsale

Awful Service. Worst service ever. It took almost two hours for us to get our food! We were in a great mood. We ordered a wine list, and all the waiters kept telling each other they couldn't find it. Our waiter couldn't remember any of the wines. This took 30 minutes.

We ordered our food.

The kitchen was horrible at communicating with the waitstaff, because when the waiter took our order, he returned 15 minutes later to tell us that the kitchen was out of our entree. We ordered something else, and 10 minutes later our waiter came back to say that that, too, was all gone.

Whatever. We finally found something that was available, and put our order in, ready to eat, drink and be merry.

We ate our bread and drank our water, waiting for our food. We had to ask for another glass, because it had old juice at the bottom. Not a big deal, but kinda gross.

40 more minutes went by before our food came out. By then we were starving.

But we were missing a set of silverware and politely waited for the staff to get it (10 minutes!) before we all ate.

Also, one of our dinners had big random blobs of tartar sauce on it, like it had just plopped on there from someone else's dinner. None of us ordered fish, so that was nasty. We didn't even bother sending it back cause we were starving! Just scooped the nasty sauce off the food and ate it anyway.

We drained our drinks long ago and the waiters did not come by for refills until we had completely finished dinner. Everything was a long wait. We just ordered dessert. Wait, wait ,wait. Through this whole horrible experience of nothing being right, the waitstaff was not apologetic.

Dessert was good. We got a random drink we didn't order, and gave it back.

The insanity came with the bill.

My friend signed the bill and then noticed something unbelievable: THE WAITER HAD WRITTEN IN HIS OWN TIP! 25% !!!

We were not a big party. 5 people is under the big-party-automatic-15%-gratuity number for that restaurant. Yet he made his own tip and it was a 25% tip! As if he did better than good! Our jaws dropped. My friend drew a line through the waiter's writing and put his own tip, and now he was pissed, so it was a smallish tip of 15%.

My friend noticed then that we had been charged for the drink we didn't order, so he asked a nearby waitress (our waiter wasn't around) if she could take the drink off the bill. The bill came back corrected... BUT WITH THE 25% tip written in again!!!!

Unbelievable.

We went home and checked online to see if this was a theme restaurant, where they are supposed to treat you like crap. We felt so upset. Now we laugh about it, and we tell everyone what a ridiculous restaurant it is.…

Terrible Service. The Kinsale has some of the worst service I have ever seen. Our waiter completely forgot one of our orders and never returned to ask whether we wanted more drinks. After about 20 minutes of no service, I went up to the bar to buy a drink for a friend who was sitting there, and our waiter came up to me to tell me that it was very rude to order a drink from the bar while we were sitting at a table. He stormed off and ignored our table for the rest of the night. When we got the bill, we noticed that he had automatically added an 18% gratuity. If you go to the Kinsale, don't bother getting a table, and just sit at the bar. The service is awful.…

dogfishhead. This is a very authentic Irish pub in downtown( government center area). They always have a fab beer selection with a few taps that rotate which is rare in Boston. They also have Dogfishhead 90 min on tap which is super yummy and super rare. The bartenders aren't very nice, but that could have just been one woman's' bad day, multiple times lol. Kind of a hidden spot but definitely worth the stop!…

Not Good Service, Food. I went to Kinsale two times for lunch and both times I had bad experiences. I sat at 1 PM for lunch and didn't get a salmon salad until 1:45 PM. Then another day I wanted to order from the bar to go - the woman was rude and dismissive. Also, the host was busy engaging in gossip to notice that I was sitting at the bar for 10 minutes before getting attended to - oh, did I mention this was not even peak time? I decided to never go to Kinsale again!…
