Editorial Review for Beantown Pub – by Ken Langdon

In Short
Located a short stroll from the Park Street T Stop, this casual hotspot attracts both locals and tourists alike. Featuring eight TVs throughout the bar and eight billiards tables in a separate room, the Beantown's a popular Downtown destination among college students and young professionals. That all twelve beers on tap are under $5 helps make it an affordable night out. Perfect for late-night eats, its pub-fare menu is available until 1am.

Good place for an inexpensive lunch or dinner--but all patrons must be 21 after 6pm.

This place is pretty bad. One decent bartender and the typical Boston attitude that you would find at any wanna-be pub in the financial district of Boston. Food is horrible. We wanted to go to a pub for "pub food" in Boston (isn't this supposed to be a pub town?) and the food was absolutely gross. The beer selection was good, but you will immediately be able to tell that the tap lines are never cleaned. Each beer that we had tried smelled skunked. One of the bartenders was nice and attentive (probably would do better if he worked at another pub) . Pretty much, most of the staff were fine with exception to one guy (and I believe he is the manager). We could hear him arguing with some customers. We spoke to a few regulars while we were there, and they all said he is is often rude. As far as location, could be better. Overall we would rate the experience a 2 out of 10, based on the food, beer (freshness) and pub management. There are certainly a lot of other better places to go, don't waste your time and money here.

I would pay double the prices at the beantown if they could promise me being served by the same bartender. His service was on point and seemed rehersed. It was like a show. I've been back, and he did it again. If you want to drink beer and laugh, go there and be a fan to someone who shouldn't be entertaining for free. I'm going to leave out his name, because this place has many servers like him. Sit at the bar if you can get a seat.

Where both tourists and locals go for pool, cheap eats, and a Sam Adams (while staring at his grave).  See the full editorial review.
