Great Italian Food! Worth the trip!.
Primavera is a prime choice to dine at and reasonably priced. From the moment my family and I walked in we were promptly greeted at the front desk by the manager and then seated in a cozy booth. The waitress seemed very personable and she got our drinks right away. When she came back to the table, my mother had a few questions about the menu, which she answered very politely and had some good recommendations on what entrees to choose.
We started off with a fried calamari which was just crispy enough and Mamma's piatto misto which was one the best antipastos I've had. In my opinion, it was better than some of the antipastos I've tried in the North End!
For dinner I ordered the shrimp with Mamma's handmade lobster ravioli, which were delicious. My mother ordered the veal rustica with wild mushroom ravioli. The demi glaze was so good my mother asked how the chef prepares it. Unfortunately it's not the type of sauce that can be made easily at home. My husband ordered the cowboy steak which was cooked medium rare, just how he wanted it. We all enjoyed our dinner and were too stuffed to eat dessert. But the waitress did come over with a variety of delicious looking choices on a tray.
Overall, my family and I had a pleasant time at the Primavera and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for good italian food in a relaxed environment.
Awesome!!!. This past summer, my friend told me about the outdoor patio at Primavera and although she hadn't been there, my husband and I decieded to check it out. To our surprise, there was entertainment outside that night with a full bar set up and a flat screen tv behind the bar. We sat down to have dinner at a table and we decided to go and sit by the fire pit and have a few drinks after we were done so we could stay for the entertainment. It was a really good time... The food was great (Butternut Ravioli App that the server recommended was to die for... much lighter than I expected... the homemade pasta was amazing and my husband loved their "cowboy steak"), the service was great and the entertainment was awesome! I think they were called Street Magic...? it was an acapella group! We will definately return... can't wait till next summer!!
Worst experience ever.
Let's just say we will never go back to this restaurant again.
First, they seated us at a table for 4 even though we were five people. My seat was in the aisle where there was constant traffic. We had this changed immediately.
Our waiter, Matt, was an embarrassment for this establishment.
When ordering Caesar Salad, we asked for anchovies and he said they don't have any. We showed it to him on the menu. His response was THEY LIE.
This should have been a clue for us to leave immediately.
The calamari appetizer took 25 minutes to come out. Having asked where the appetizer was, Matt stated that he was helping with the function and that it was taking a little longer.
My wife ordered the oven baked haddock with lump crab, potatoes and vegetables. My wife asked for a baked potato with sour cream on the side. Matt said that would be no problem. My daughter ordered the seafood pappedelle with pesto special.
I ordered the chicken parm with pasta.
Fools that we were... we thought these simple tasks could be accomplished!!
Needless to say, my wife's order came out as mashed potatoes with a side of sour cream. My wife explained that she did not order that.
Matt had the nerve to bring over the menu and argue that it didn't state baked potato but he took the order and said there would be no problem. Still arguing with the menu in hand, he stated that they don't have baked potatoes so then why was it ok to order it.
My daughter's meal had no pesto in it and the seafood had a strong smell. Matt said he did write pesto down on the order and it was listed as the special.
Either they ran out of pesto or they don't know how to make the meal.
Neither he nor the chef took the time to check if the meal was correct.
My pasta was complete mush. It must have been sitting in water, pulled out and put on the dish then adding the sauce. I had a pool of orange liquid that was supposed to resemble sauce. I asked for grated cheese and red pepper. He brought the cheese but not the red pepper. Ten minutes later the red pepper arrives.
Stay away unless you want a bad experience!
Restaurant treats entertainment like dirt.
I played here when I was in a wedding band a few years back. We were also special guests of the bride's family. We were a cordial and respectful group. We dressed well, we behaved with dignity, and we expected decent treatment - not necessarily royal pampering, but at least decent treatment. Let me tell you, we did NOT find it at Primavera Ristorante!
First of all, they do not allow "vendors" to drink at the bar. Their bartender had instructions not to serve us. When we asked a waitress where the band was to be seated for dinner, the rudest, most un-people-skilled representative I have ever met (some tall woman with short hair, some kind of manager) came out and told our lead singer, "Seated for dinner? Really? You're welcome to sit in the men's room if you'd like," and she left us standing there. The bride's mother heard about it and she was appalled. She herself went to that woman and instead of an apology the woman made a dismissive gesture and snapped orders to some waitresses to put a plastic table out on the back lawn for us. The food, which was flavorless, was practically thrown at us and the waitresses never checked on us at all. We played the night and vowed never to endure that excuse for a venue again.
If you are a band or entertainer, do NOT expect so much as human decency at Primavera.
Terrible food and service!.
From the minute we walked in the door there was something lacking from the greeting we received at the hostess station (the waitresses were hanging up front looking at us like we just interuppted their joke of the day) to the impersonal service we received from our waitress (brianna), who seemed more interested in rushing back to the hostess station than taking care of us. The atmosphere, none! The place was empty, I can see why. The food Bland, Bland, Bland......... They were out of everything, the lettuce was wilted, potatoes dry, bread stale.
When we asked to speak with the manager a rude blonde woman came to the table, that had the personality of a pickle, when we asked who that was we were told the owner..... really the owner, they must not need the business. Basically it was a bad experience all around. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.
Our favorite. We have never been disappointed at Primavera. The food is fresh and delicious, not overly seasoned or salty. I appreciate that I can season my own meal the way I like. The Sunset Menu ( 4:30 - 6:30) is such a deal. Nice salad, a good selection of delicious entrees - generous portions ( I have tried several and liked them all) and a full size dessert ( tiramisu, cheesecake, a chocolate decadence to die for) for 11.95 - nothing like it. Good quality food, very good waitstaff ( Brianna, Paola are wonderful). The Primavera is a treat we look forward to at the end of a long work week.
Wedding Event. Had daughters wedding there a few years ago. The banquet room, bar area, picture area, and gazebo were very pretty. The appetizers were also quite good, but the dinner was horrible. The bread tasted blah and stale. The Tuscan bean soup was like broth. The Chicken Maria (which was great at the food tasting we did) was poached white looking, filled with white rice that tasted nothing like risotto with very little sauce on it. One guest commented to us later thought that it looked like a "snowball". We were so embarrassed! Complained to the event planning staff the next day. They acted like everything was just great and had no idea what I was talking about. Get in writing that the food will be exactly as they present it to you at the food tasting dinner as it will be at your wedding.
Great Value-Try it !!!. Briana is a top waitress.Start with Bread with Hummus spread-AWESOME.We went at 5p.m. and they were already out of Clams Casino appetizer-very bad impression! Caeser Salad was OK.SunSet Menu offered good selections at a great price.(Salad,Entree,Dessert and Coffee included for $11.95) wine special was an excellent value. My Scotch was a little weak for the price.Entrees were fantastic(Shrimp and Veal).Desserts were a disappointment.(Carrot Cake was too hard and the "lava" cake had NO "LAVA".The coffee was tastier than most restaurant coffees.WE WILL GO BACK!!! It's too good a value to pass up!!!.TRY IT YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!
Primavera for all seasons. Upon going back to the Primavera, the service and the management was superb. So much detail was put into every aspect of the restaurant. I would highly recommend this restaurant for all engagements.
Better than the reviews I had read.
Having read a few reviews of Primavera we were not expecting much but were determined to go so we could hear the North Shore Acappella singing group. We were pleasantly surprised. We were seated in a room off the restaurant main room but open with many French doors to give an open feeling.
We all had a cocktail first--mine a Cosmopolitan which was just right. First course--3 Caesar salads and a mixed field green. The mixed field greens were not as fresh as they should have been. I asked for a "lightly dressed" Caesar which was tangy and creamy but a little too much dressing. Next time I will probably ask for the dressing on the side. The anchovies were some of the best I had ever had and the large crouton crispy with a hint of herbs and garlic. My husband and sister had the salmon which they both said was good. If you like your fish less done, ask for it. My brother-in-law and I had the grilled steak, medium rare and cooked to perfection. The meat was of good quality. The vegetable of the evening was a mixed roasted kind with asparagus, red and yellow peppers, zuccini and yellow squash and vidalia (?) onions. These were done to perfection, not mushy but not too hard. The mashed garlic potatoes were good too. None of us could eat dessert. The waiter was very good and attentive. We had a very enjoyable evening and North Shore Acappella was fabulous.
