Inconsistent Service, Bland Italian.
Bertuccis is great for take-out pizza. That's about it.
Wait staff is usually unaware, and slow (in the three locations I frequent, not just one.) I just called to order two pizzas for take out tonight. The host on the phone at the Mansfield Crossings location said "Um, why don't you call back later? There will be another guy on, and he can take your order. You're calling too early."
He couldn't write it down? Way to be professional.
Best Italian Restaurant around. reading the previous review really saddens me because I had very much the opposite experience. Very cozy environment; my party was sat within seconds, my waiter got to me in a timely manner; the rolls were to die for; the food was right off the stove (they don't have microwaves by the way!!!), great portions, visually appealing and delicious!; the dessert was exceptional! - all and all I had a one of a kind experience! ...you could tell all the employees were very happy to be working there! The cooks were even singing lightly in the background! Would definitely recommend THIS Bertucci's over the other Mansfield Bertucci's located in the new Mansfield Crossing.
Local chain serves popular brick oven pizza and sturdy Italian favorites to the appreciative masses..
The Scene
With over a dozen locations in the greater Boston area, diners don't have to travel far to enjoy a fast, affordable meal of brick oven pizza, fresh salads, and pasta dishes. Regardless of the location, expect to see many families--kids are given raw dough to play with--and young couples on dates. Servers are more than happy to keep refilling baskets of the excellent oven-warm rolls. A pedestrian wine and beer list is available, though most diners opt for soft drinks or water.
The Food
Bertucci's deservedly prides itself on serving up consistently tasty pies with above-average toppings like carmelized onions, roasted zucchini and portobello mushrooms. Because they're wood-fired in a brick oven, the pies have a wonderfully smoky, crunchy crust. Standard antipasto plates and large salads are popular choices to start a meal. Desserts (boring tiramisu, creamy gelato) are better enjoyed elsewhere.
This is not Bertucci's!. We go to Bertucci's frequently. The Downtown location is worthy. Let me give you a few LOW-lights for my recent experience at the Mansfield location: 1. The rolls were not the distinct Bertucci's rolls we have come to love. They tasted re-baked and didn't have even a hint of cornmeal. Brick-oven? I don't think so. 2. The quality of the side-order vegetables was like garden scraps. 3. The entrees appeared microwaved. Warm at best and not anywhere near the quality that I have had other locations. 4. The side salads were not side salads. They were a few randomly thrown together vegetables. Nothing near the salad we expected. Our experience was quite discouraging. We would have had a better meal from the 99 down the block. That is a shame.
