Springtime Seafood Supper.
Every spring there is an especially warm evening that feels more like summer and I start to wonder when Jakes Seafood will open for the season. Jake's is a family owned restaurant that has been a fixture on the Hull shoreline for more than 50 years. Every winter they close up and then just when the snow clears and a woman's fancy turns to fried clams they return.
The fish is always fresh and clean tasting and that quality shines in the simplest dishes such as Cedar Planked Salmon or the rare Ahi Tuna Steak. I also love the Italian family recipes especially the Calamari Marinara.
I can't start a meal at Jake's without their lobster bisque which is creamy and rich with lobster but also has a spicy little kick. And speaker of lobster, the deep fried lobster meat is over the top good. When we go with a crowd we ge a long table on the deck and order a few different fried seafood plates and dry white wine and share around. Summer night bliss!
