“Also the sweaty, unpleasant owner stopped by the table on his way to the bar and shouted something to the effect that they had a big party upstairs and they were very busy and doing their best.”
“Then, any question that we may have had about the food was like an annoying bother for her to have to answer us.”
“This Restaurant is hands down the best restaurant in Boston.”
“Great dinner will be back soon.”
“The son was completely rude to the wait staff.”
“The food is excellent and the prices are fair.”
“We order w/in the next ten minutes, and the couple of appetizers that we ordered come out around 9:40.”
Miserable for groups (particularly if women!). It was a bad scene all round. It is a miserable place for groups. The food was surprisingly decent (if overpriced – but this is North End, so the pricey bit was to be expected). The service went from aggressive hustle to abusive. The manager made some of our party very uncomfortable – not great for a party of middleage professional women at an alumni dinner. When one complained about the service his response was “we don’t need your business”. Wow! I haven’t seen that approach to customer service before. They make their money by flipping tables and expensive wine. If you want an average approximation of an Italian restaurant and have a small party that doesn’t wish to stay long, and there is nothing else available, this place may be the restaurant of “last resort”. But there are so many lovely places in the North End – why waste a night?
It was great. We found this restaurant when Carmen's kept us waiting for our table too long. It was great. Good food. Much frindlier. Nicer atmosphere. Far less crowded. Will never choose Carmen's again. Ricardo's is a better choice
a wonderful experience. My wife and I ate at Ricardo's Ristorante in the North End last year (2007) and we had a wonderful experience. The food was great, the service was friendly, and we said that we must go back.
I had a great waitress. I have only eaten here once but i had a good experience... keep in mind I went on a Tuesday it was empty and I had a great waitress
Service has been top notch.
My family has dined here twice over the last year and enjoyed it both times. Food and service has been top notch. Good location, just a block off the main drag in the North End so there isn't as much traffic.
I recommend Ricardo's.
the best I've had in the North End. Ricardo's is my new North End favorite. Not only is their eggplant parmesan the best I've had in the North End, but their prices are reasonable and the service is excellent. I love eating there in the summer or fall because they open the windows out to the adorable North Street location, looking out onto North Square and Paul Revere's house. Definitely worth a try if you're over the Hanover Street crowds!
Best Restaurant in Boston. This Restaurant is hands down the best restaurant in Boston. The food was amazing, and the service in the restaurant was fabulous. The menu has a variety of different dishes, and every dish seems to be just better and better. I am used to home-made Italian food, being Italian myself, this food reminds me of the food i get at home. The employees are very informative on the different dishes that they serve. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone, it is a wonderful dining experience.
GREAT RESTAURANT. I HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE IN THE RESTAURANT THE FOOD WAS EXCELENT THE SERVICE WAS GREAT AS WELL, I THINK YOU HAVE TO JUDGE BY YOUR SELF THE RESTAURANT NOT 'CAUSE A FEW PEOPLE HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE THAT'S MEAN IS A BAD RESTAURANT SO I TRULY RECOMEND RICARDO'S RESTAURANT.
Worst Dining Experience I've Had. This was hands-down the worst dining experience of my life. I went to Riccardo's with a few girlfriends and we were treated with utter disrespect by the owner, Riccardo, and his two sons who work there. To begin the night, we had to wait 45 minutes for our reserved table. Then, we waited for a full 3 HOURS for our food. In those 3 hours, we were approached by our waitress maybe twice and when we finally asked to see the manager to get the check for our drinks and leave, he came to our table and was extremely rude and accusatory, as though we were at fault for not wanting food that we'd waited for 2.5 hours for. Then, he threatened to call the police on us! It was absolutely ridiculous. This place should be shut down, and the food is rather sub-par to boot.
Worst I have ever been treated, aweful business.
I have never written a restaurant review, but was blown away at how horrible the service was at Riccardo's last night that I felt the urge to write one.
After waiting to be seated (with a reservation), the host began seating couples that arrived after myself and my date for the same 6:00 reservation. Finally we got seated and here is where things got worse.
A bottle of water was placed on the table, the host opened the bottle without asking and served it to us (this bottle was $7, come to find out).
Our waitress came over with the bill and let us know that "in order to move tables quickly, no desert will be served."
I had an online gift certificate from this restaurant, I was told that because it was Valentine's Day I could not use my gift certificate! I had the host get the restaurant owner to my table and let him know that I am a college student on a tight budget and that this policy was unfair, as nowhere on the certificate did it say that holidays were excluded, here was his response was: "I am the owner, I can make any policies I please. Plus, are you really going to try to use a promotional certificate on Valentine's Day?" He said this as arrogantly as possible, as if I were the cheapest person he's ever come across when really, if it weren't for that certificate, I could have never afforded to eat there! He then handed me the bill back and told me that they were trying to move tables quickly - nothing was done about the certificate.
Just to show I was irritated, I said "fine then, I'll have another water," the waitress then, as sarcastic as possible said, "oh, would you like another BOTTLE of water?", I said "no tap is fine." MY OWN WAITRESS WAS BEING RUDE TO HER OWN TABLE! I gave the waitress a bad tip (which is not like me) because I felt the service was aweful! She came back to the table and told me that she is a single mom and that she didn't think her tip was fair!! AWEFUL BUSINESS, do yourself a favor and don't go. Owners are GREEDY
