In Short – This sultry, dimly-lit lounge in the Liberty Hotel features elements of the jail it once was. Original brickwork, cell doors, and celebrity mug shots create a conversation-starting atmosphere for the fashionable twenty-somethings who pack the limited floor space nightly. A full bar features aptly-named specialty drinks such as the Jail Bait (pomegranate mojito) and Doing Thyme (gin, blueberry, apple cider, and thyme). A pricey bar menu includes such treats as a kobe beef burger and cured salmon pizza.
line for no reason

Last night my husband and I decided to check out Alibi after dining at Grill 23. We are a cool, young couple... Well we waited in line for 15 minutes in freezing 10 degree weather... heard from others that the place was slow, then watched people behind us go in first.... we decided to call it quits and head to the Charlesmark lounge, which was a good choice. Service was lacking, they changed the lines... etc... no reason for a wait when the place is not full... won't be returning anytime soon... at least not this winter.
Bad Bathroom System - Rude Management
by Ali1478
I had heard rave reviews these past weeks on Alibi so I had to check it out for myself...The place was nice and I was enjoying myself up until I had to use the rest room. Upon leaving the bar we were handed these cards from the bouncer, supposedly securing our entrance back in, however that was not the case. To make a long story short the bouncer gave out 2 cards, each being a different color, which I guess we had the wrong color which made getting back into the club an issue. I was pretty much called a liar by management when explaining the situation to get back in. Both the Manager and General Manager were nothing but rude and helpless. Also to top everything off I was so rudely yelled at by the manager in the lobby upon leaving telling me that I need to have respect ? talk about bad customer service ? obviously they don?t care about their customers and need to take a management course themselves to learn how to properly respect/treat their paying customers?
- Pros: Nice Atmosphere
- Cons: Poor Bathroom System & Poor Management
Cool look, horrible treatment

I had eaten at Clink once before and enjoyed the experience, although I agree with other reviewers that the food was rather tasteless and uninspired. On that occasion I did have to wait a few minutes to get into Alibi afterwards, but that was understandable. Overall the experience was enjoyable enough that I thought I would take my brother here as he was in town last Friday night. What a mistake.
The evening began well since we went early and got a small table in Alibi. However, the evening took a complete nose-dive when I needed to go to the bathroom...heaven forbid. Upon my return, I found that I was not allowed to rejoin my brother in the bar due to some story about a fire marshall and the need to do a headcount. It seemed ridiculous that I was not being allowed back in and that my brother was sitting in the bar waiting for me all by himself, but it seemed like it would only be for a few minutes, so I waited. And waited. And waited, until eventually one of the employees working the door area asked that we wait upstairs for a few minutes.
So dutifully I went upstairs with another girl in line...needless to say neither of us had our bags so we could not even get ourselves a drink. When we returned downstairs we found that no one else had been herded upstairs (or else they were more agressive in their intention to stay put) and the same employee immediately asked us to go back upstairs. The situation took a turn towards the ludicrous. I also felt like I was being made a fool of. This was confirmed when we went back upstairs and looked down to the entrance of Alibi to find that 4 other people were being let in right in front of our faces. When we asked the employees working the door they gave some story about their boss telling them to let these people in. I felt like a complete idiot. After 45 minutes, my brother came out and we decided to call it a night.
Cool looking place. Horrible treatment.
- Pros: cool atmosphere
- Cons: not being let back into the bar after going to the bathroom.
