“And while I do love that giant, green, money-hungry chain found on every Boston and NYC corner, I found another love when I lived in the North End.”

Being that I was born here in this fine commonwealth known as the Bay State, I am genetically predisposed to love Dunkin Donuts. And I do. We've had our disagreements and occasional breaks from each other--mostly circa 1999 when I worked there and constantly smelled like French Vanilla coffee--but I will always carry a somewhat-dimly-lit torch for good old Dunks.
That being stated, college turned me into a coffee snob. And while I do love that giant, green, money-hungry chain found on every Boston and NYC corner, I found another love when I lived in the North End. A more personal, interesting, delicious little coffee shop.
Boston Common Coffee Company, formerly known As Beanstock Coffee, now has three great locations-- The North End on Salem St, Downtown on Washington St, and the Financial Dist on High St. I find myself at the High Street location most for its proximity to my office, but I have found all three offer great service and the same -fantastic- menu.
Aside from bagels and muffins and the usual coffee shop bites, Boston Common has a lengthy lunch menu including paninis, wraps, salads and quiches. Their baked goods, like the Conga bar, are absolutely addictive and should probably be avoided.
And of course, the most important of all--
The coffee.
Their coffee is consistently fresh and delicious. Their lattes are great, too, and made with a little more love than the button-pressing Baristas across the street.
All in all, if you're getting a coffee and find yourself at the Intersection of Green and Pink-and-Orange...
Maybe for once go LOCAL instead :-)
Great Iced Coffee, Hot Coffee & Pastries!. This place is the perfect respite from the ubiquitous coffee chain. The Iced Coffee is "cold brewed" and has a down-home delectable flavor. Assorted proprietary whole bean coffee is also offered with selections ranging from their North End Blend to their Tanzania Peaberry. The pastries are world class--I have yet to find a croissant this authentic outside of Paris--and are fresh everyday. Lunches are also delicious; I recommend the Hanover Panini, my personal favorite. Service is friendly and expeditious. My friends are hooked as well; they'll walk half way across Boston to come here for their daily coffee break! This is my first review so my love for this joint should shine through as the sole motivation in becoming a citysearch member...
