this is an update to my previous evaluation:
"I made an order March 10th 2013. for a pair of Sperry Men's shoes ($190+30 shipping). my order status is "awaiting shipment" ever since! I emailed them many times but without any response! I even called them a long distance call twice, and the lady who answer the call does not know when are they going to ship my order! I wish I saw these review before. I agree with those saying " never ever purchase from North River Outfitter". it has been and still a nightmare purchasing experience with North River Outfitter. My recommendation: STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!"
On April 21st, I ended up with a lousy $ 90.00 pair of shoes ,wrong color.
I'm located at Saudi Arabia, and l had to return their pair of shoes back. it cost me ($50) for shipping! I'm expecting my shoes to arrive next week.
bottom line: STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! do not pay attention to their apologies for having a bad experience with them. this place is horrible to deal with online. this is my first and defiantly the last purchase from this place.
Their virtual doors should be padlocked - just to reiterate the views of others the customer service goes beyond incompetent and virtually ensures that, through our utter inability to reach them, no order is truly cancellable not are you likely to get it returned for full refund. They 'claim' to have shipped my order (ironically sending the confirmation 10 minutes prior to end of 5th business day - their policy) yet no tracking number, no carrier confirmation etc. I concur with others - stay 100 miles from these people.
Avoid this retailer – My daughter found this retailer online and purchased a patagonia pullover. We received the item but it had a noticeable flaw on the front so we returned the item for replacement and they sent the SAME PULLOVER back to us. We returned again and they sent NOTHING back to us. No refund - only store credit. They never answer the phone. They don't respond to emails. I wish I had done a minute of research on NRO before I handed my credit card to my daughter. Take my sincere advice and do not make a purchase from NRO.
Horrible customer service – Worst online retailer with a completely unreasonable return policy. Bought a $100 sweater that didn't fit when I got it. I followed the return policy and sent it back within the 14 day window they list in their return policy. Now they tell me the item is only eligible for store credit. They do not have any other sizes of that item in stock and nothing else I want or need. Now I am stuck with a store credit that I don't want. The item didn't fit, I just wanted my money back! Not to mention that no one ever answers the phone or returns calls. A shady business do not buy anything from them!!!!!!!
Horrible store/website! – I have never been more angry and disappointed in an on-line order as I am with this company! I ordered a black coat, and received a blue coat. I called several numbers and could not talk to a person, only a recording. I left phone messages several times, and I e-mailed several times to have someone send me the required return information. I NEVER heard back regarding my return. This has gone on for a couple of months. Placing the order was easy as could be, but try to send back an unused, unopened product, and no such luck! I do a lot of on-line ordering and have never run into a problem with an exchange or return. I will never, ever buy from The NorthRiver Outfitter Company again!!!! please, learn frim my mistake. Stay away!!
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER – Shopped here online for a last minute gift in NOVEMBER. Gift wasn't shipped until DECEMBER.....No refund yet on returned gift and it is almost March! PATHETIC SERVICE WHEN YOU CALL. WORSE SERVICE WHEN YOU EMAIL....IF YOU WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO TAKE YOUR MONEY AND PROVIDE YOU WITH A MISERABLE ATTITUDE AND NOT REFUND YOU MONEY CALL ME! OTHERWISE DON'T SPEND WITH THESE SNOTS!
Avoid - They will rip you off. – I wish I had read all the negative reviews before I tried this place. They are friendly when you're buying but fiendish when you attempt to return. To return, you are required to send them an email to ask permission. Of course they don't answer the email. Then they don't answer the phone or return messages. When you finally get someone to answer the phone the run around continues. And then when they finally take back your return you find out you can only get store credit. This for an unworn, tags on, coat returned in less than a week. Take your business elsewhere. There are plenty of businesses that treat their customers right. Avoid this place.
Great Customer Service at NRO – I was deploying for duty and NRO overnighted my new KJUS jacket before I left for duty for free. They also included a free NRO hat which has quickly become my favorite. I guess they throw gifts in with shipments on occasion. Great brands and very helpful with sizing questions when I called. I was a bit nervous with the review online so I called first but they explained their policy and I was very happy with the results. I guess when you are buying a $1400 ski jacket its understandable that they only allow returns for refund with 14 days...Its not like buying from Walmart! But the quality and service sure isn't either. Buy without fear...only if you can afford it !!!
Best Service Around! THANKS!!!! – I ordered a coat online (Barbour) It arrived the next day with Free Shipping. Ordered in past from Orvis for Barbour and it took forever. Best part is they have tons of other great brands and many of the items you won't find online.
Bad Customer Service – First public review of a company because they are so bad.
I ordered something for Christmas on Monday.
I was ensured they would "overnight" it.
I called to confirm that it would be sent "overnight".
They did not send it on Monday.
I started to get concerned because I was leaving town on Thursday.
They did not send it by Tuesday afternoon.
Since I needed the item on Wednesday, I called them three times and they did not answer; I left a message for them to return my call and they never did. I also sent them an email which they did not respond to.
I went ahead and ordered the exact same thing from a different store to make sure I received it before I left town.
I then cancelled the order via email.
They sent the order anyway - late. I didn't actually get the package until I got back from CHristmas vacation
I asked via email for an RMA and they said to check the policies which deducts shipping and only gives store credit.
