The Perfect Practice.
Whether you are new to yoga or a transplant from another studio, you will not be let down with the quality of practice at Soni Yoga. Soni and David really do their best to make everyone feel at home and supported, and place great importance on practicing joyful yoga. Classes are not "boot camp" like some of the other Cambridge studios, leaving all who spend time here with smiles on their faces and love in their hearts.
Come expecting all levels of students in the hatha classes - from first timers to accomplished yogis. There is no such thing as competition or judgment at Soni Yoga. Each class is tailored to the needs of those in attendance and each instructor always asks about injuries and sore spots at the beginning of the session. They stress only doing what your body will allow. With chronic back injuries, I have been especially grateful for this aspect! Soni is always "scolding" me (always with a smile on her face!!) for attempting too many backbends, and assisting me when I need additional support.
The price is right too - with $7 flow classes on Wednesday nights (and they're not wimpy either!) and 10 and 30 class passes available at a discount. With all of the individual attention I get and Soni and David's amazingly refreshing attitudes, I will gladly hand over my money for years to come. If you are looking for a nice, friendly, small studio in Cambridge, you cannot pass up the opportunity to practice here!
Sacred Space & Friendly People.
Having just relocated from the San Francisco Bay Area (which has tons of yoga spaces), I was looking for a new venue in the Cambridge area to further my practice. I had a short list of preferences, but most of all, I wanted a friendly and engaging environment. If that is what interests you as well, then you need look no further than Soni Yoga. From the moment I walked in, smiles greeted me at the door and the welcome was truly sincere. It was also a nice surprise to learn that my first class was FREE! Throughout that session, I kept coming back to the feeling that I found exactly what I was looking for. Soni & David were very warm and quite knowledgable in the true spirit & meaning of yoga. The studio was very serene and orderly (which says a lot to someone who has seen otherwise in other yoga studios).
So, if you are looking for a GREAT place for your practice, or want to try something new, I highly recommend Soni Yoga!!!! With the variety of class levels, I'm sure you will find something that will be a perfect fit.
Wonderful New Cambridge Yoga Studio. Soni Yoga offers a wonderful experience in yoga: a peaceful, clean atmosphere, caring and knowledgable teachers, and most of all, positive energy. I always feel supported when I practice here: for example, since I am a fairly new practicer of yoga (since fall 2007), I am still working on trying to do the headstand. David and Soni, teachers / owners, blend encouragement and gentle challenge in helping me "get" the headstand. I know I'll get it soon, with their help! But, on the slip side, I also understand from their energy and teaching that I am learning and practicing at the right pace for my body -- there is no "wrong" here. All the teachers truly care about you, and they take the time to help you find the most effective practice for you. The other great thing about Soni is the class schedule: there are a variety of daytime and evening classes for people with unusual schedules like mine. I like that. Try Soni Yoga!!
calming and rejuvinating. I enjoy every class at SoniYoga. The space is clean and peaceful and the instructors are always warm and welcoming. I especially like David's classes. His voice is soothing and he oozes positivity.
