In Short – One of the city's only spots for dancing the night away to lively Salsa tunes, Sushi-Teq deviates from the norm by serving gourmet sushi. A list of nearly 70 tequilas can be enjoyed straight, with many vinatge cocktails and margaritas available as well. Dancing waiters and acrobatic bartenders add personality to the colorful space. Diners enjoy innovative items like the namesake roll, which sees spicy cooked salmon atop a sliced soy-wrapped roll of avacodo, cucumber and scallions.

Great Sushi, Great Tequilas, But Not Dinner

by petergv

Let me start with a key point: I'm a major sushi fan. The chef as Sushi-Teq may very well be THE BEST sushi chef in Boston. Sit at the sushi bar. Tell him to feed you whatever he recommends. His sushi is innovative, well prepared, and truly AWESOME. OK? If you're into sushi, you've just GOT to try this place.

Now, to the rest of the review:

Sushi-teq is a VERY small place, perhaps a dozen tables? The tables are small rounds (maybe 24" in diameter) and setup mostly for 1 or 2 couples. Right away note that this is not a place for you and eight of your friends to go for a night out.

The tequila is great. Have a "tasting flight" or two. And try the margaritas. They're also super.

The staff is friendly and knowledgable. Nice folks and very accomodating.

The salsa music is great fun. The place has, overall, a good vibe.

The major thing to understand about this place is that it's really not a DINNER place. And, according to the staff I talked to there, this is by design. Note that there are no starters or deserts. The portions are VERY small, and the prices are fairly high. Each piece of nigiri sushi is about the size of your thumb. While delicious, expertly prepared, and bascially WONDERFUL... you'd have to eat a LOT of these little guys to make a full dinner. How many? Well, the wife and I had two rolls, 3 omakase plates of 8 pieces each (each different, $24 per plate), and some random individual nigiri sushi pieces. I left hungry. How expensive? Add a couple of drinks, and we easily reach $100/person.

So, this is a GREAT place for cocktails, appetizers, a light bite before the theater or an after movie snack.

However, given how very talented the chef is here, and how tasty and innovative the sushi, and his willingness (actualy, DESIRE, INTEREST) in doing omakase ("chef recommendation:), I wish there was a way I could get MORE of it.

  • Pros: INCREDIBLE innovative sushi, nice drinks
  • Cons: Small portions

Best sushi I ever eat, a must see of Boston

by mngaetez

The food was incredible and the tequilas make the perfect combination. My favorite was "big dig" and "mojarritas". It has an incredible lounge where you can enjoy your favorite drinks before you go inside for the best sushi ever. Nice salsa and merengue music and I believe they are waiting for a dance floor that will be outside. For a very nice night of excelent food and drinks, nice people and awsome music you must go to this place.

fun bar!!

by fhemes

What a fun bar. My girlfriend and I love the concept. Food, drinks, salsa music, everything is there for a fun evening. Quality of Sushi is very high and the good thing is that you can see the chefs preparing your dishes. bartenders are so friendly: they made us try some new cocktails they want to offer on their new menu. We love the amosphere in this hotel and also the fact they have different concepts of restaurants and bars for different occasions (Miel Brasserie, Rumba). Highly recommended!!

  • Pros: sushi, drinks, bartenders
  • Cons: not big enough
