poor management

Having to deal with this company's 'clerk'/ 'phone answerer person' has convinced me never to rent anything from these folks.

When trying to resolve the most recent issue, the clerk would not give me the name of the manager or the owner so I could deal with someone with authority to satisfy a customer complaint. My request to speak to an owner/ manager was met with defiance---like he makes the decisions. His next comment was speaking to them will get me no satisfaction either....maybe/ maybe not, but I'll take my chances. Never did receive the phone call from either....I doubt they got the message from the great communicator.

Their representative was not the most effective communicator and rarely exhibited any compassion for 'their' renting faulty equipment. Blames only the rider/operator for the scooters lack of performance.

This person could not see the forest for the trees and I'm certain has been brainwashed to believe the customer is never right.

Based on my experience I can see a fatal accident happening and they take no responsibilty for old, faulty equipment. I see persons stranded with no clear instructions about what to do with the poorly maintained scooter. Their 24 hour service with a fax number is hilarious!

I believe the City of Boston authorities need to review this business, their business practices and their business license to rent products to the general public.

ADVENTURE

by ben243871

Wow, not sure about the other reviews? maybe you caught them on a bad day? I rented from them a few times and I never had an experience like the ones below. Actually, I rented from Adventure before I ended up buying my own scooter (which I love :-) )

My question to the two below is do you guys even know how to ride/operate scooters? I read one person say theirs caught on fire??...uh, yeah sure maybe if you lit it on fire or totaled it. These things aren?t exactly cutting edge technology here it?s just a simple combustion engine. People are talking about these failing on their ?trips,? these are scooters people hello! NOT made for extended ?trips? they?re made to shoot a few miles around the city. Jeez

  • Pros: Easy going, relaxed atmosphere, good price, convenient
  • Cons: return first thing in morning (I want to sleep in!)

please don't rent from here, you'll regret it.

I walked into this place with nothing but the best expectations---why, I'm not really sure. I guess I was just excited to rent a scooter. Regardless of my initial excitement and trust (my mistake for being a naturally trusting person), I walked out of Adventure Vehicle Rentals wanting to seriously injure something; really, it'd just be retribution since my friend and I nearly died on those scooters. It's not that we were inept at riding them, by any means--I'd say we were damn good for having them stall out on us in the middle of busy intersections and not restarting along with blinkers not working. Granted, our scooters didn't catch on fire like the entry before this one, but when we had to have the scooters TOWED back to the place in the middle of the night because they wouldn't start (due to faulty equipment and just a completely unreliable service all around), we were refused ANY sort of reimbursement and even blamed for the problems, which was a real hoot. We were told we should have called the place (mind you, this is at 9:00 pm. They close at 7) because they have some hotline where someone would have answered and helped us. Funny thing about that---they gave us NOTHING with their phone number. The receipt did have a phone number...a fax number. I'm not sure about you, but when I'm stranded in the middle of a busy intersection, I'm not really sure how to use a fax machine. Call me stupid, but I'm just not sure how that works. The manager was a massive butthead and was completely condescending. I'm not a very angry person, but after that whole episode, I was livid. The other people who work there are nice though, and I'm sure they're embarrassed that they work for a moron.

  • Pros: Uhhh...I failed to find any pros. Except for that it was close to my house so that I could walk home after I dropped off the defective scooter. That was good.
  • Cons: Everything.
