Best Indian in town. Being partial to spicy food, we requested our waiter to make all the entrees spicy. Oftentimes when you ask for your curry to be spicy, a lot of Indian restaurants - in NE - just shovel chilli powder into the pan without bothering to add other ingredients in the right proportion. Invariably, the result is a fiery disaster on your table. But Punjab Palace's chef is a rara avis, possessing the secret recipe of how to make the food spicy yet at the same time tasty. Much to our delight, every single item we tried was a real treat.
Not close to its sister restaurant India Quality. The quality of food is nothing like India Quality, its sister restaurant. We ordered a Chicken Saag and a Lamb Tikka Masala. The Tikka Masala tastes nothing like the Masala sauce at India Quality or Masala sauce we have had anywhere else. There is an amazing amount of ginger in the Masala Sauce. The quality of meat in both the saag and the lamb was below standard, although the lamb quality was slightly better than the chicken, which has a substantial amount of fatty inedible pieces. The rice is not tasty the way the India Quality rice is tasty by itself and you probably could have made it in a rice cooker at home with no trouble. All in all, there are a number of better choices in the Boston area--India Samraat, India Quality, Diva restaurant, etc. --and a number of average choices which would have better quality meat.
Editorial Review. Allston eatery serves up fresh Indian fare, including a bevy of vegetarian options.
great indian. my sister and i recently discovered how delicious indian food is, so we have been trying new places whenever we get the chance. we both live near punjab palace, so we decided to sample it. we are so glad we did! everything was delicious, portions were generous--definitely only order one naan per two people-- and there were tons of options for anyone's taste. definitely give it a try!
Great Indian Food in Allston. Punjab Palace is a delightful new arrival to the Brighton Ave. panoply of restaurant choices. Though there are other Indian cuisine choices near by this is the best option in the area. It has an authentic menu, great service and a flat screen TV playing Indian music videos. The decor is the best in the area. I would recommend it to anyone searching for good Indian food in the neighborhood.
