Editorial Review for Olive Garden – by Citysearch Staff

In Short
Established in 1982, this chain gained a following for its laid-back atmosphere and generous portions. Patrons settle into comfortable booths and tables in dining rooms with plants, artwork and décor reminiscient of the villas in the Tuscan countryside. Starters include scampi, sausage or pepperoni pizza, and several soup choices, as well as a signature seafood dip (crab, shrimp, cheese and marinara). Entrees include classics like lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo and chicken parmigiana. There are also "Garden Fare" options, which promise 30 percent fewer calories.

Went to Olive Garden days after Christmas. The restaurant on the Friday was extremely crowded at about 7 p.m. with people standing in the lobby to excess probably with their gift cards from Christmas, a fire hazard definitely. I ordered Seafood Alfredo which I honestly don't usually order since I'm always dieting. Due to the chef's inability to keep up with the crowds it tasted like pasta, seafood, and cream. Where was the garlic, parmesan cheese, etc.? I'm a gourmet cook so I had to doctor up my take out meal the next day since it was horrible. I haven't gone back since. I also didn't call the restaurant since they were too busy for my complaint. If they plan to compete with TGI Fridays coming soon they better get their act together. I've been eating at the competition Bertucci's restaurant which is more expensive but better. I'm waiting for a Not Your Average Joe's, my favorite, in Taunton.

Pros: Good customer service at take out and to seating area

Cons: Too crowded Friday nights and after holidays which affects food quality
