Don't sign up! Really!

by Macros at Citysearch

I have always used low-price fitness companies and was always satisfied but here are the reasons for NOT signing up here (I am a member until my contracts ends):

1. They have to few training facilities

2. They don't have free barbells at all

3. They need ages to repair a broken equipment (WEEKS!)

4. If you for once forget your training shoes and want to use sandals exceptionally you get kicked out from the gym even when you try to explain the situation and another trainer has agreed already.

5. Opening times are bad in my opinion.

Believe me I have long experience with low-budget training but never had that experiences.

  • Pros: cheap

Oh come on - you get what you pay for

by debevans at Citysearch

I fail to see how anyone can really complain about this gym. It is practically free - $10 per month. $20 if you want to join multiple locations so you can work out indoors on crappy days either at home or near work like I do. Sure, there are no aerobics classes, there is no pool, etc., etc. But if all you need is somewhere to run on a treadmill or ride a stationary bike a few times a month, I don't know how you can complain about Planet Fitness. Plus, I like the fact that I can run in and not worry in the least what I look like b/c there are no over dressed, overly made up, fancy people. Just ordinary people trying to squeeze in a cheap workout.

  • Pros: Practically free
  • Cons: No frills

THIS PLACE IS SUCH A SCAM

by angieladida at Citysearch

This place is such an unprofessional joke. I walked in and the guy says come back and he'll "show me around" and I could even "try working out to see how you like it"

BUT then I come by and get a 4 minute walking tour and then the kid hands me an application form. I said I wanted to think about it and then the production began. Not only did he guilt me into buying a membership by 1) telling me how much MORE he convinced someone else to pay 2) how much he needs the money because he gets a commission from signing me and 3) statistics about the odds of me coming back if I walk out, BUT I was totally right. I didn't use the gym ONCE the entire few months I was in Boston, and I called to cancel only to be informed that I've already been charged until October. Well charge away, while I relish the fact that I'm in NYC now and as far as possible from the scam that is Super Fitness.

DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM!!!!

by stephsox at Citysearch

I cannot warn people enough. This gym swears by customer service (or so they say) and yet they have the worst customer service I have ever seen. When I joined there was free personal training, but conveniently changed after people began using it. More importantly, when I got injured and had to cancel my membership they were AWFUL! They made it a long drawn out process and were extremely inconsiderate. Their gyms are very unimpressive and you can get a lot more at other gyms without the hassle.

  • Cons: Awful customer service and unattractive gym
