Editorial Review for Burtons Grill – by Gerrish Lopez
In Short
With an upscale-casual atmosphere and a stylish lounge area, Burtons makes for a pleasant pre-or post game spot for a drink or a meal. The classic American menu focuses on high-quality meats and fresh seafood at affordable prices. An all-day sandwich menu features a reuben, burger, and steak sandwich, while the heartier entrée menu features filet mignon, ribeye, haddock, or the "Land and Sea"--a 10 oz. aged Angus New York strip with shrimp, scallops or crab cake. Fresh soups, salads, and side-dishes complement the meals.

My wife and I had a very bad experience yesterday, June 26th at the Boston location. We were seated timely - order was taken on time - quite some time before our water was brought to us and bread was served a few minutes before our starter. Considering that we sat at 5:40 and were going to a 7:00 PM Red Sox game, it never entered our minds that we would be rushed to finish our food. I had to ask the waitress after we ordered 20 minutes earlier to check with the kitchen for my steak and my wife's pasta dish. I then had to speak to someone who identified herself as a manager who told me that it was only 21 minutes since my order was placed but she would check on it. As I told her the service was unacceptable she gave me a time out signal with her hands trying to justify the poor service. She came back with the orders with extremely hot food and plates - MICROWAVED. Food just fair. We had to rush to finish to make the 7:00 game. One of the owners came by to apologize - "we fell on our sword" - he told us as we told him we use to eat at their Derby Street location - Notice the word USE TO. I never asked for anything because of the poor service, fair food, had to rush and we couldn't finish our meals on time. The owner didn't even have enough common sense - you have to have that before "Business Sense" to offer us a drink or dessert. If the food was for the nothing, it still wouldn't be worth it.
Pros: none
Cons: terrible service - microwaved after it took 22 minutes to serve our food

I went to Burton's after a Sox game on Patriot's day. We knew they were extremely busy but are patient people and were willing to wait. So we put our names in and went to they bar to get a few drinks. There was only one bartender on the bar but I work in a restaurant and knew I would have to wait for a bit. I only became frustrated when the bartender ignored me. This seems silly but I was leaning over the counter with money in my hand for 20 minutes without a glance in my direction. I tried to make eye contact but I got nothing. The people to my right got 2 rounds and ordered and recieved buffalo tenders in the time I waited. i had to walk away from the bar and a friend in my party took my place. She finally got waited on only to be asked for ID,which is not the problem. It was that after she asked for the ID she went and waited on 4 other people, another 10 minutes waiting, before coming back and taking her order. We also had to wait for our table for an hour when we told 20-30 minutes while there were empty tables in our sight. Thankfully our waiter was excellent and super nice. I don't recommend going there after a game, they are in no way equipped to handle such a large crowd.
Pros: bad bartender
Cons: great waiter
