cozy and delicious!. If you have not tried this cozy JP French Latin bistro, you must! My good friend and I dined at the JP local for the first time last night and it was delightful. Impeccable service and delicious food made with care. The Shrimp ceviche appetizer was the perfect dish to start of the meal...a clean mix of shrimp, tomatoe and avocado. For the main course, I ordered the seafood pasta. It was flavorful and aromatic. I will definitely be going back!

Bold flavors await at JP’s diminutive French & Latin bistro. No matter how frequently you may peek into the enormous picture windows on this bistro’s façade, nothing compares to the experience of stepping inside (it’s astonishingly tiny, but in the best way) and supping on exotic flavors presented with signature, cheerful, we’re-all-family familiarity. Co-owners Ibonne Zabala and Oleg Konovalov create this eclectic haven of Latin-tinged comfort food on one of JP’s quieter commercial stretches, serving Chef Alba Aranda’s dishes like Peruvian-style ceviche with haddock and calamari or the onion-studded Provençal tart. Hearty selections for vegetarian and vegan diners, a solid wine list and rich desserts (hello, dulce de leche crepe!) make it a neighborhood staple.

Editorial Review. Diminutive Jamaica Plain bistro blends French and South American cuisines with a wide variety of vegetarian and vegan alternatives.

We will never go there again. Saturday brunch timetable, several weeks ago. One of us is pregnant and HUNGRY. 10 minutes after being seated, we ask for and receive menus. 20 minutes after being seated, we are still sitting with menus, no server has visited our table. 25 minutes after being seated, we leave.

Meanwhile, several people come in to get take out orders, are served, pay, and are on their way. There are at least 6 staff working the whole time - what on earth are they doing?

Forget this waste of time. Go to Sorella's instead.

Good, but needs polishing. We went for dinner last night and our meals were good, but lacked pizazz. I ordered chicken with a mustard sauce. It had a nice flavor, but the chicken was slightly overcooked and the rice was very plain.

The atmosphere was disappointing. The lights were so bright, i felt like i was on stage. Dim the lights, add a candle on each table and the atmosphere would be great.

They also do not serve alcohol which was a bit of a disappointment.

delicious brunch, almost worth the wait. 40 minutes wait for brunch to arrive after ordering, we ordered eggs florentine and just a 2 scrambled- we were literally the only 2 people in the restaurant. I have worked in the industry for a long long time and have a great deal of patience but jeezums. The waitstaff was pleasant and breakfast was great when it arrived but we had plans and were late getting on the road. I think that it would have helped had someone explained what the hold up was- my curiosity rather than my appetite was getting the best of me- why would it take so long? I wondered if they wanted to keep us in the window to let people know the place was open. I would try it again - JP needs a brunch place that can handle volume and you don't have to wait in Disney ride- sized lines.

So far, so good... I've only gone three times, but each time, everything was great, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. The first time I went, my friend and I had one hot chocolate each and chatted for hours.. not once did we feel like we were being hurried along! Another day, one of the owners had spotted me earlier in the morning at the nearby laundromat and came by my table later, introduced herself, and thanked me for coming in. I had the spring crepe filled with ham, swiss cheese, and asparagus, and the baked goat cheese salad both times I had lunch there (it was so good, I couldn't help but order the same thing).
