Strange Ambience - decent food. I went here on a thurdsday night and it was pretty empty. The other reviewer is right, I was a little caught off guard by the smell. I was really excited to try this place, but after you strip everything else away you are basically paying a good deal to make your own dinner. The broths were pretty good and our waitress was very helpfull. The seafood was fresh and the food overall tasted good, but when you total up all of the food that you pay for, it is not an inexpensive dinner. The atmosphere is also much more like a cafeteria than a restaurant, it is expansive with chitzy tables, decor and floors. It feels a little bit like eating shabu-shabu at macdonalds. Overall at the end I ended up asking myself why I didn't just stay home and make dinner, it would have been cheaper and just as good. My disinterest is partially in the whole shabu concept, but mostly in feeling that I was doing it in a place that wasn't particularly sanitary or appealing. Though I am not a stickler for cleanliness, the bathroom was one of the most disgusting of any restaurant I have eaten in.
this place is awesome. my 1st time there i thought the herb smell is weird.. then after i go there at least twice/wk its soo good.. I would drive here from Brookline any day, and its right next to where i get my facials. So convenient. its great
