In Short
Owner Steve Johnson, the former chef/owner of The Blue Room, has opened a most welcoming dining destination in the former home of a Burger King. Calming woods and plenty of natural light make for a relaxed environment, and an inviting bar is perfect for solo diners. The ever-changing menu features the ingredients and flavors of the Medierranean; dishes include monkfish and littlenecks with porcini cream and grilled Portuguese sardines with roasted peppers, fennel and capers.

For a reputedly "nice" restaurant, this place certainly does not cut it. Upon entering, one is immediately greeted by a saccharin-sweet, fake, snobbish hostess who pulls attitude at the blink of an eye. Decor is actually nice with a modern, clean-lined twist. Food is mediocre, although the desserts are decent. The owner truly takes the cake, however. He preferentially treats caucasian people well, ignoring all minorities especially those who are young-looking. We dined there with a large group of minorities - all young looking but all accomplished lawyers and physicians. He not only did not provide average service to us (while brown-nosing the caucasian group next to us), but he rolled his eyes when we mentioned water dropping onto us from the leaking ceiling during the rainstorm. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone unless you want to laugh at a farce of a restaurant.
Pros: decor
Cons: service, hygiene (leaking ceiling??)

The hostess came by the table 30 minutes after seating us to let us know that there were people coming in after us and that we should be mindful of the time. We ignored this comment as it seems somewhat ridiculous and ate a decent, but definitely overpriced meal. Then as we were waiting for our friend to return from the bathroom, the hostess returned to our table to remind us that we had exceeded our two hour time limit and essentially asked us to leave. When we confronted them that we had never experienced this type of treatment before, the owner came over, introduced himself and said, "I am the owner." We didn't know what to say to that. He then defended the hostess, at one point rolling his eyes at our discontent. I have never received service this poor in my life. I should also mention that at the beginning of the night, when there was a thunderstorm going on, three of the people at our table had drops of water land on our shoulder, head and hands. To remedy this problem, they moved our table two feet over, after which we continued to feel occasion drops that went ignored.
Cons: Terrible place for dining in large groups because they set a 2 hours time limit on your reservation before putting pressure on you to leave.
