What Our Expert Scouts Say

Pretty much all the elements you would want from a tapas restaurant are to be found here: extraordinary food, fantastic sangria, a cool but festive atmosphere. Best to go with a big group, though. There's a lot to taste here.

Fantastic every time. A great way to sample the delicious, creative dishes from Ken Orringer. I'm impressed each time with how many plates we get for what the bill totals to - a good deal for a high end place.

Some of the best food in Boston, hands down. What some people don't know about this place is the empenadas are made by this woman in her home. Then she delivers them to Toro, and they cook and serve them. They are the most delicious thing I've ever tasted, not to mention, home made! The staff is great, Mojito's are yummy, and it's nice that you can see the kitchen, so you know it's clean. The sangria leaves something to be desired, but they do put delicious fresh orange and apple slices in it. They are good to munch on between bread slices. Also, you absolutely have to get the corn. I know everyone probably says that, but it's amazing.

Great food that is inexpensive. Fun restaurant with outstanding food. The grilled corn with pepper and aged cheese was incredible, I broke my don't eat corn on the cob in public rule for it, and would do so again!

The menu showcases non traditional items that you don't see at other restaurants, I would suggest being adventurous and try new things here. The sweetbreads were excellent. I was even surprised at the value of the food. The outdoor seating is great for the summer as well.

One of the city's most acclaimed chefs provides the South End with an edgy, foodie take on a modern tapas bar.. Chef/Owner Ken Oringer replicates the success of Clio and Uni, his pair of award-winning Back Bay restaurants, with this stylish, open-kitchen tapas bar. Refreshingly located on the gritty-meets-gentrification edge of the South End, Toro lists its daily menu on a large chalkboard, and communal tables only add to the effusive social vibe. You can bet on most evenings thronged with guests, happily nibbling from plates of filled dates wrapped in ham, octopus ceviche or the cult-favorite grilled corn. The bar's drinks are first-rate, from a smart wine list to excellent cocktails ranging from classic Calimocho to a heady Ward 8.

The most amazing food experiencee period.... In addition to offering the best and most creative spanish cuisine, Toro offers a truly amazing food tasting experience period. I have experienced tapas restaurants in San Franciso, Chicago, New York and Miami and Toro is far and above the best I have had. Atmosphere is vibrant, wine selection is phenomenal. Service can be slow due to crowds

Great food, terrible service. The food was incredible! The service was beyond terrible... They kept taking away plates with food still on them and half full drinks... We even had to rescue a part full carafe of wine from the bar! They also accidentally debited an extra $200 from my account (which was voided, but still took a week to arrive back in my account), so I'd recommend paying with cash or a credit card that isn't linked to your bank account!

All this aside, the food is still more than worth the hassle - just arrive early and be prepared to swat away overly eager busers.

Always a great experience!. I have dined at Toro more than a few times. It is without a doubt one of my fave places to eat in the city. I always get great service here, and it is always fun to see what new dishes have been added to the menu. I eat here about once a month, and have yet to be disappointed. Great front of the house staff + great cocktails+ amazing nibble= Toro. Best tapas around, hands down! Viva la Toro! !Coma aqui, usted lo amara!

Excellent Food and Drinks, Extremely Slow Drink Service. I went here with some girls to celebrate a birthday. We went on a Monday night and didn't think it would be crowded, but thank god we got there before 8...or we would have been waiting. The waitress was prompt at first and recommended some great drinks to start out. The "hue-ball sangria" was delicious, but took forever to get it. We ordered a few tapas for the table (corn, artichokes, croquetas, veggie dish, etx) and finished off with a plate of cheese, which all came out quickly, but the waitress was no where to be found to order more drinks. The tapas were great and just enough to keep us satisfied and not too full. The corn was the best I've ever had and we were tempted to order a second plate of it. Definitely recommend this place, but be aware the service isn't the best.

Best tapas outside of Spain. I lived in Barcelona for a year, and I've been to the best tapas restaurants in New York and London. Toro is, hands down, the most authentic and best-tasting location that I have been to outside of Spain. Prices are a little high, but compared with an airplane ticket to Europe, really very affordable.

People, this isn't Spanish food!!. I wonder if the other people who wrote reviews for this restaurant have ever been in Spain.

This is not Spanish food. Period.

First of all, Kobe burgers aren't a Spanish dish (this is having pizza in a Japanese restaurant). Second, the black board has so many spelling mistakes that is a joke. Third, is over priced. Fourth, poor service.

I guess that if you have never been to Spain, you care for lots of pretty people around you and you have plenty of money to throw away. This is you kind of place. All others, stay clear.
