I went to eclano for restaurant week with some friends. First sign: the dining room was not full. hmmmm.....The service, although friendly, was painfully slow. I didn't expect dinner to take 3 hours! And only 2 of the three main dish options were available--not a good sign when it was somewhat early in the night. Shouldn't you be prepared for restaurant week? OK--the food: I started with a crab cake. It was fair--too much breading, no real sauce...in short, I have made better crabcakes myself. Others in the group had bruschetta with calamari (apparently no taste) and a salad (a bit salty). Second course: I had sweet potato gnocchi with wild boar ragout. The ragout was good, although it might as well have been made from stew meat. The gnocchi was very dense and chewy. The flavor was fine, but I prefer my gnocchi to be a bit lighter and certainly not chewy. One of my friends enjoyed it, however, so I guess different strokes....Others had a mushroom crepe--they said it was very good. The main course: as I said, they were out of one choice: lamb. Most of us had pork loin served over cauliflower puree. The cauliflower was cold and fairly tasteless and the pork had a strange taste--you couldn't tell that it was pork! Some pieces were overcooked, others nearly raw. You couldn't have paid me to eat all of it. One person had the salmon--simple preparation, but it apparently was a much better choice. On the whole, I cannot recommend this restaurant. Perhaps their normal menu is better, but in my mind, restaurant week is a time to attract new customers, not to make enemies. Given the number of really great places to eat in the North End, I suggest that you walk past Eclano and try somewhere else....

Pros: location

Cons: slow service, below average food, loud

I went with a group of seven, we had appetizers, entrees and desserts and not one of us had something we didnt enjoy. The service was wonderful! Knoweldgable and friendly. It would be a great place to take a date. I cant wait to go back and eat more!!!

Pros: Food and service!

Cons: Cant think of one!
