What People Are Saying About 28 Degrees

In Short – While the South End is considered one of the city's hippest neighborhood, it lacks an abundance of suitable nightlife options. 28 Degrees, with its swank interior and designer cocktails (Pomegranate Cosmo), fits the bill. The wildly eclectic menu contains upscale finger foods like Maine Lobster "sliders," avocado and steak tacos, and an Andouille sausage, tomato and oregano pizza.

  1. This restaurant definitely tops my list with it's trendy atmosphere (LOVE the bathroom), friendly staff and amazing
  2. The decor is fantastic.
  3. will say - the drinks are wonderful, the setting is trendy and fun, and the food is good.
  4. On a couple of nights the flat screens were showing sports but otherwise stuck to nice views of beaches and rainforests or artfully retro music videos.
  5. The location is not great & the food menu looked boring.
  6. Good service, relaxed atmosphere
  7. The space is elegant and stylish, great for romantic dates or classy parties.
  8. This place has not only great food and service, but a fun environment, as well!
  9. The concept of the "Shared Plate" is a great incorporation of West Coast dining that is much welcomed in Boston's not so trendy dining atmosphere.
  10. An amalgamation of great service; great food and drink; and great atmosphere, 28 degrees is by far the hippest new hot spot in the city.
  11. Overall, the decor is beautiful- the bathrooms especially seem to be a feature.
  12. The patio is warm and inviting despite a less-than-perfect view of Berkeley St. Atmosphere inside and outside were very reminiscent of places I've been in Miami.
  13. Miami-esque atmosphere, great service
  14. Our friends also said that the bar was totally empty, the atmosphere was pretentious and the drinks were way overpriced.

  1. The bar very sophisticated, the flat screens stream cool music videos and the water on the ceilings of the bathroom, with the one-way glass wall, it's really amazing.
  2. With a great space that has a total NY vibe, I love the great drinks- (the melon and key lime martinis are exceptional), great food and weekend entertainment.
  3. This was just to get in and sit at the bar and order over-priced cocktails.
  4. Only ting I would have liked to see was a few high end beer selections, Belgians, Unibrau, or some good craft Americans.
  5. As for the drinks, they were delicious (recommend the Lime Drop Martini).
  6. While the host at the front desk was charming (and gorgeous) the bar staff were rude, brusque, and overinterested in hanging out with the coterie of screaming retail queens who seem to be a permanent fixture to the right of the bar; mooching free drinks a
  7. Not only is the entire staff well knowledgeable about every drink or wine on the menue they can make it with superb accuracy and is always delicious.
  8. The bar staff was great.
  9. Small expensive menu but delicious drinks and small plates.
  10. The drink menu is standard with some interesting cocktail suggestions- but badly let down by whoever is mixing the drinks- a Moscow mule was sickly sweet with hardly any acid- tasting like cheap ginger ale and some unrecognizable flavored vodka; a dirty m

  14. The creative cocktails are another.
  15. Unfortunately, the poor cocktails and bad bar service means the Franklin Cafe has little to fear- for now.
  16. And it was great, the staff was great, the cocktails were amazing and the food was unbelievable and I love the Sunday night shows.
  17. will say - the drinks are wonderful, the setting is trendy and fun, and the food is good.
  18. the food is delicious, service is friendly, drinks are fantastic, and the wine list is unparalleled for diversity - where else can you find a sagrantino di montefalco or assyrtiko?
  19. With it's elegant white drapery, candles, and blue lighting illuminating the bar.
  20. must for the urbanite, socialite, or anyone who just wants great service and classy cocktails.
  21. Where can you go if you just want to hang out with friends, share a couple of bottles of wine, and graze on delicious food?
  22. Some dishes are worth trying (e.g., raviolis with perfect peas, carpaccio) but the wine list is very shallow, with only a few choices in each category and mostly overpriced (e.g., a Marques de Caceres Rioja over $55?
  23. Our friends also said that the bar was totally empty, the atmosphere was pretentious and the drinks were way overpriced.
  24. Otherall, we really enjoyed our passing through 28 degrees, and will definitely come again, but more for drinks and to lunge on the patio (and visit the Best Bathroom in Boston !)
  25. While we waited for the table, Aaron, our super friendly bartender recommended some drinks.

  27. could see myself going in just for a pizza and fries at the bar on a monday or tuesday night or having a birthday celebration with a big group because of the shared plate concept.

  5. Trying to get a full meal is a joke - while I (honestly) do like the concept of "shared plates", it is ridiculous to be given a basket of fries for a table of 4, then a (small) plate of ribs half hour later, than a (small) plate of something else half an

My 1st experience at 28 Degrees will be my last.

by Tammy s at Citysearch

Last weekend I had dinner with a couple of friends @ 28 Degrees, let me just start off by saying the portions are terrible and so aren't the prices and service. We finished our "so called" meals and had to order additional sides because we were still hungry!

Then we get the bill and tell the waitress to take the cash and put the remaining $68 of the bill on my credit card.

I check my bank acct. online later on in the week and they charged the entire $180 bill to my credit card AND the waitress took the cash we had given her TOO!

After numerous times of trying to call and getting the voicemail, I decided to go in and see the manager. I show him the receipts and my bank statement and he takes my number down and tells me he will call me.

He then proceeds to TEXT me (REAL PROFESSIONAL)

to tell me they will refund me in 2-3 business days.

NO SORRY FOR THE MISTAKE, NO EXPLANATION NOTHING.WHAT GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!?

EVEN THE CHAIN RESTAURANTS WOULD CALL AND APOLOGIZE OR OFFER YOU A GIFT CARD IF THEY HAD OVERCHARGED YOUR CREDIT CARD BY $110.

They should spent less $ on their bathroom decor and more $ training staff and supposed management.

NEVER AGAIN!

by simon311b at Citysearch

Though I really like the room and the fact that it's a real lounge, I will never go back to this place. I went there twice, and the first time I liked the special drinks and bartender but thought the host had a bit of an attitude. The second time I went there, the host, this time I think he was one of the owner, had the biggest attitude I have ever encountered. Bigger than anyplace I've been in NYC, LA, Monte Carlo or Ibiza! He's a little older and has such a sense of entitlement. Wow. What happened to customer service?

  • Pros: room
  • Cons: bad customer service and ownership

Best night after a long day!

by BackBayloverofthesouthend at Citysearch

Five friends and I went to 28 Degrees to begin to unwind after a long day of Christmas shopping. This was the first time we have come, but certainly will not be our last! From the dollar oysters to the best looking caring staff! Great Job! The amazing cocktail list had us forgetting about the long lines at Copley. Thank you so much 28!

big flavor

by siesta22 at Citysearch

Dropped in last Wednesday night for some of the dollar duxbury oysters and ended up staying for an amazing dinner. Their menu offered large and small portions which allowed us to taste many different dishes, that is the best way to eat in my opinion. we had tuna tartare, which was the best I've had in this small town of Boston! The cappicola pizza had a crispy thin crust, and the lobster sliders put B&G's to shame. The stand out dish was the braised short rib....ummmm...um so good. The crowd was diverse and the drinks were all about seasonal freshness. A must visit for all!

  • Pros: great food at reasonable prices
  • Cons: sometimes a little loud

not just for the fabulous

by thefreezer at Citysearch

The menu at 28 Degrees, which changes frequently, is reason enough to come to this stylish boite. Creative, highest quality ingredients, beautifully presented. The creative cocktails are another. But the best reason is the service, which is professional, prompt and of the highest caliber - a real rarity in a town where the service ethic is often seriously lacking. 28 has managed to attract a talented staff of professional service people who make you feel like the most important person in the room, even if you're wearing jeans and flip flops. Things can get pretty busy on a Friday or Saturday night, and for locals, the best nights are Tuesdays and Wednesdays. My husband and I aren't fabulous or famous, but we always feel well cared for when we come here.

  • Pros: food, service, ambience
  • Cons: can get very busy late night Fridays and Saturdays
