Editorial Review for 28 Degrees – by Citysearch Staff
In Short
While the South End is considered one of the city's hippest neighborhood, it lacks an abundance of suitable nightlife options. 28 Degrees, with its swank interior and designer cocktails (Pomegranate Cosmo), fits the bill. The wildly eclectic menu contains upscale finger foods like Maine Lobster "sliders," avocado and steak tacos, and an Andouille sausage, tomato and oregano pizza.

I use to go to this place at least 3 time a month. And it was great, the staff was great, the cocktails were amazing and the food was unbelievable and I love the Sunday night shows. But lately I have been in and the experience is horrible. Last Friday around 6 I went in with 3 friends and wanted to sit at a table there was no one at the host stand to greet us and I saw the manager (who I have seen many times) talking to another employee, he saw us and completely ignored us. So we went and sat ourselves. There were more than enough tables for us to sit, but as soon we sat the manager come over and rudely told us that we couldn’t sit there. “ That they had reservations coming in and need that table.” We asked to move to another table and he said there weren’t any available.” We end up eating at the bar. The bar staff was great. The cocktails on the other hand have been much better. We ended up staying for the course of the night and the table we sat at when walked in was never used. When I went up and asked why we couldn’t have sat at the table for dinner, the manager was again rude and said we just had a cancellation for the table. I don’t know what has happened but I remember when the management use to be a lot nicer. They defiantly need to do some changes before I would go back.
Pros: Ambience
Cons: Extremely Rude Manager

I tried to go to this bar with two of my friends on a Saturday night (2 girls and 1 guy, all dressed nicely). We were told by the very rude bouncer that you could only get in with a reservation. Mind you, this wasn't for dinner. This was just to get in and sit at the bar and order over-priced cocktails. We asked if we could make a reservation then or put our names in and come back, and he said now. When the door opened, I could see the bar inside and it was empty. We left, but wanted to go back because we were meeting friends who were already inside. I called to avoid what we'd just been through and spoke with a hostess who said there was now a line, but they were letting people in as people left. So we headed back, only to find no line and the same rude, unhelpful bouncer with the same story. Our friends eventually left and we all met up at Coda and had a great time. Our friends also said that the bar was totally empty, the atmosphere was pretentious and the drinks were way overpriced. I'll never try to go back.
Pros: not sure; never got inside
Cons: obnoxious bartender, pretentious, doesn't seem like a Boston bar
