Editorial Review for Mangia Neapolitan Pizza – by Citysearch Staff

In Short
Mangia's simple storefront churns out deceptively complex pies. High-end toppings--many veggies are purchased from local organic farmers--include baby clams, capers and Asiago cheese. Californian vine-ripened tomatoes are used to make the sauce. Fresh salads run the gamut from straightforward Greek to herb-crusted goat cheese with sun-dried tomatoes. Boutique sodas from the Boylan Bottling Company (varieties include cherry red birch beer and grape) are sold as well.

Mangia Neopolitan Pizza in Canton is just awful. Awful service, awful food and awful prices. I got a grilled checken salad they charged me 11.50 for and at first forgot to put chicken on it. As for the quality the chicken was wet, chewy and tasted a little bit past its prime.

The pizza is good. Probably the best pizza in the South End (unfortunately for the South End, it is really not that bold of a statement). The pizza is definitely the highlight here. Crust, sauce, cheese...all are good (not as good as Boston's Upper Crust or Newton's Sweet Tomatoes...but not too far behind). They have salads... which are fine. Unfortunately, there is no place to sit . If the weather is nice, you can sit outside. Parking is tough at times (Street Parking). The most disappointing aspect of Mangia's is the service. If you are lucky, there is an older lady who works behind the counter. She is the best!! So friendly and does a great job. However, most of the time, it is not her. Instead, you have a gentlemen, who is rude (he makes it appear that he is doing you the world's biggest favor by taking your order). Slices are never prepared (expect to wait 10 - 15 minutes) and never arrive when they open (they never open on time). The pizza is a hit....the service is a miss.

Pros: Pizza

Cons: Service, No Seating, Parking
