corporate attitude

I've been going to this place for years and they do a great job with hair cut and color, brow waxing and facials. But they're scheduling policies are pretty inflexible and unforgiving. For example if you are 10 minutes late for any reason your appointment is automatically canceled and you can't get another one for a month. They are completely unapologetic about this. I guess they are really trying to maximize profits (which seems at odds with their purported philosophy), but they do so at the expense of the needs of loyal clients. So if you're willing to put up with being treated like you should be grateful for the opportunity to give them money :), you can get some good services.
$45 pedi without feeling like you treated yourself

the woman made sure not to make the experience worth the money. she was disinterested, unprofessional (hurt me with the tools without apologizing), the water was too hot so was the towel, the seats were uncomfortable and the job only satisfactory. they may have other staff that know what they are doing but I would not go risk it if I were you...
- Pros: looks nice
- Cons: unfriendly, unpleasant service
Can't do African-American Hair
by Morgan K at Citysearch
I thought I would try the hair salon since it is close to my apartment. The service was terrible!!! I am black and wanted to get a relaxer. I was told that I would have to have a consultation before I could get an appointment. Well, I scheduled a consultation and met with Nicole (Nikki) Ruby who was supposedly a senior stylist. Nikki told me to email her the information regarding where I had gotten a relaxer before so she could check with my stylist to make sure Pyara had the right relaxer for my hair and could perform the service. Well a week went by and I never heard from Nikki. After several emails to Nikki she never got back to me and so I never went there for a relaxer. I should have known that this was going to happen because during the consultation she seemed very unsure of herself and I doubted her ability to do my hair. However, her behavior was very unprofessional. I think it is ridiculous that this salon cannot do African-American hair.

If you want to go somewhere where the providers are booked so solid they have no time to listen to you, and will charge you an arm and a leg and try to push their products on you... you've found the perfect salon!
- Cons: Expensive, snobby
